From 2011 - 2014 I was a Special Olympics yearly volunteer with New Alternatives for Children (NAC).
NAC was founded on the belief that all children have a right to grow up at home, not in a hospital. Since 1982, NAC has been providing comprehensive New York City family support services to ensure that children with medical complexities don’t remain hospitalized beyond medical need, and are able to live and thrive at home.
I volunteered with the CSR departments of Goldman Sachs and then at PIMCO, every year, directly through CSR Director Susan Medina.
My role changed throughout the day every year as a general volunteer. I could be found helping to prepare meals, coordinate toddlers in the play area, or be a facilitator in the Animal Therapy Unit. Where there was a need, I would happily be placed.
