Recently Gucci launched a very nicely produced app available in eight languages.

It offered travel advice for cities relevant to the brand’s history such as Portofino and Milan, plus glossy, magazine-like features showing how their products are made, interviews with designers, social networking live feeds and robust e-commerce options.

They sell it as an “all-encompassing experience for the luxury brand’s enthusiasts” and it is certainly a well-judged app. [Read more...]

When we were growing up and often fighting with our siblings then tattling on them immediately to start trouble your wise parents probably said,

“There are 2 sides to every story. Let me see what your brothers/sisters have to say.”

In a recent article for Forbes, journalist Lauren Indvik approached the story surrounding luxury brands (Jimmy Choo, Burberry, Marc Jacobs, etc) and what occurs when these labels attempt to incorporate social media into their marketing campaigns.

As it turns out, there are several sides to the story about whether social media will generate an increase in sales, and more importantly raise top-of-mind awareness for luxury brands. [Read more...]

{Rules of PR no. 10} PR Fail ‘Loss of Potential – Boys Club vs Flirty Nerd’

Smart Is The New Sexy by Sheerki1 via DeviantArt

UPDATE June 15, 2009 1:07 p.m. ET
Geek Girls Guide posted an
open letter and apology by Hoss Gifford and a followup by Dave Schroeder. Giddord also posted a copy of his presentation here.

Original article continued below…

Wired Magazine Geek Girls Tweet

Above is a prime example of “Flirty Nerd” style and Wired’s name and ‘Star Wars’ became trending topics on Twitter on June 10.

A trending topic is a phrase or group of words that has been repeated so many times by various Twitter users that it becomes a real-time, online ‘trend.’

“Flirty Nerd” style is the use of geek and alike terms by women that is attractive to men. For example, a girl who alludes to her favourite gadgets in conversations and probably loves everything Apple. Or typically a girl who understands and would allude to Marvel, Star Wars or Star Trek in a savvy way using words or phrases like “into the Dark Side,” “young Padwaan,” “Live Long and [alternate word for ‘Prosper’ here],” “Sith happens,” “Like Rogue sucking [Read more...]

Your Smart Phone of Choice: #Blackberry , #iPhone , #Nokia ?

Smart phones are mobile phones that offer advanced capabilities — very similar to what you would find on your PC or laptop.
There is no specific industry standard for what is considered a smart phone, but there are some knacks that each carry:

  • operating systems
  • e-mail
  • Internet
  • e-book reading options
  • applications
  • built-in full keyboards
  • GPS
  • external USB and/or VGA connector
  • ample GB of space
  • typically 5.5+ pixel cameras
  • etc.

Basically, these phones are miniature computers you can hold in the palm of your hand.
With Nokia releasing their N97 in June 2009, and the fact, that everyone, besides me (yes, I’m so serious), owns a Smart Phone, I want to know which one you prefer and WHY?

Please vote below.

In the “comments” section explain your choice of why you prefer a specific phone or why you do not.

If you voted “Other,” tell me why and which phone you prefer that is not listed above.

Sasha H. Muradali runs the Little Pink Book and SashaHalima PR. She has never owned a Smart Phone and is interested in finally make that purchase later this year. Your opinions in the matter would be greatly appreciated :)
