Garden Oasis: Fotini SS13

Born in Athens, Greece to an Egyptian father and a Greek mother, New York-based designer Fotini built a name for herself that epitomizes on the ultra chic and the uber feminine.

Her designs of the past have been as flirty and classic as they have been contemporary and luxurious.

After traveling around Europe (specifically Italy) for over three-years, Fotini’s SS13 collection, at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week, was an ode to such with 18th-century paintings and the French countryside springing to life through yards of silk and pale romantic tones. [Read more...]

Carlos Miele SS13 Backstage and Snippets

Carlos Miele is my favourite fashion designer on the planet.

As someone who can be accused of being in love with all things Brazilian and Italian it pretty much falls in line with my lust for life and love of culture. If not the music, it’s the food, if not the food, it’s the people. So it’s always such a pleasure for me to view the inner workings of Miele’s mind.

Miele’s SS13 collection was a step into a hallucinatory jungle. In his made up world of giraffe prints in phosphate blue, tiger skins in oxidized yellows and silver metal embellishments the collection took on soft, yet strong form. [Read more...]

Fashion’s Night Out 2012

Susan and I afterwards grabbing a late night turkey burger and mac’n'cheese at Chat’n'Chew in Union Square

Every year my best friend Susan and I attend Fashion’s Night Out New York in SoHo.

Call it one of our yearly traditions and 2012 was no different. It was our third year participating.

We even have a game — each year we try to visit more stores than the year before and try to meet at least one designer along the way. We also make a point to wear flat shoes (*yay!* for TOMS!), do our hair/makeup, dress up and most of all have more fun than the year before!

So we keep a tight schedule and go-go-go!

This year we went to (not in order):-

  1. Mulberry [Read more...]

Backstage at New York Fashion Week FW12: Carlos Miele’s Redken Hair

Brazilian born Carlos Miele is one of my favourite designers and I was in absolute awe at his Fall/Winter 2012 show this season at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week.

For his collection, inspired by the south winds of Rio, Miele enlisted Rodney Cutler of Redken to style his models with feminine and casual elegance.

To be quite honest, the entire show had me singing Paula Fernandes’ “Canções do vento Sul.”

… and I adore Fernandes, so I was a very happy girl during Miele’s entire runway presentation.

The final product was to vie for!
