#MusicMonday – Alicia Keys “Sleeping With a Broken Heart”

It’s Miss Empire State of Mind in her element. Not her typical piano-esque music, but the beats are very Alicia and the song is composed/sung with lots of feeling.

I just love Alicia Keys’ “Sleeping With a Broken Heart.”

Look out for the painted flower tattoos on her back during the video. I’m not into tattoos, but these flowery designs are rather cute [Read more...]

Music Monday – Hello Gen-Y, Love the Boybands…

**RIP Stephen Gately, who passed away on Saturday October 10.**

So like every other girl in the 1990s I liked boybands…so just because I’m feeling rather nostalgic this week…Besides I think I chose the best of the boyband songs. Oh and make sure to check out Take That for the anti-boyband-boyband song :) [Read more...]

#MusicMonday I Gotta Run This Town, Nivla-style!

As first South Asian artist signed to Interscope Records, Nivla has a lot to live up too. Well, after the crazy success of “Be Easy (Koi Na),” one of my favourite songs, by the way — Nivla’s follow up tracks are always much anticipated by those who know his music well…

Be Easy (Koi Naa)

For you newbies to Desi music, Nivla is a hip-hop artist [Read more...]

Music Monday – Requiem and the Ice Queen

Have you heard Pandora online radio?

Well it’s an incredible social media, live, streaming, Internet radio station. One of the best things about Pandora is that you tell it what you like, and it really is pretty accurate in figuring out what else you could be into. [Read more...]

Music Monday – But you make me sing like a guitar hummin’

While, you might listen to it and think it’s about some woman of the night, “Cracklin’ Rosie” is actually about a Canadian wine. I’m not a huge fan of 1970s music unless you count ABBA and some random left overs from the 60s, but I do love this song.

Oh, I love my Rosie child —
You got the way to make me happy.
You and me, we go in style …
Cracklin’ Rose, you’re a store bought woman
You make me sing like a guitar hummin’ …

It reminds of the autumn for some reason. This song was Neil Diamond’s first number one hit in the United States in 1970 and it was his breakthrough track into the UK mainstream music market.

Enjoy! :)

Music Monday – My Red High Heels

Music Monday – Carrickfergus meets the Fairytale of New York

I love all sorts of “world music,” and I say “world music,” because as someone who lives in the Western world, anything that doesn’t make the Billboard Top 100 is considered “world.” Anyway, I basically have an iPod filled with the likes of Indian music (my culture,) Calypso (more of my culture,) Celtic, New Age, Rock, Alternative, some African beats and a ton of Latin flavours (I’m from Miami, what do you expect?).

I got into this Twitter conversation with fellow PR-tweeps, Danny, Lauren and Peter, last week about the Highlands and some pseudo-reality show, and other randomness involving some tartan newsboy caps. Well, I ended up discussing with Danny, a tad bit about [Read more...]

Desi R&B singing sensation Jay Sean is back…and he’s cracked the American market. Oh, yes!

Teaming up with Hip-Hop superstar Lil Wayne, Jay Sean returns to the  music scene with a new catchy tune called “Down.” It’s cracked the American mainstream market and is currently no.13 on iTunes.

Long awaited, and many moons long past My Against Myself – it’s finally happened. I personally LOVE this track. It’s a little different than previous Jay and is quite of a different [Read more...]
