Autumn/Winter 2012: Versace Menswear

If you paid attention to the Versace collaboration with H&M, between the vibrant prints, plunging cuts and short hems, you probably were, like me, curious to see what the Italian label would produce for the runway.

Disappoint, Donatella Versace certainly did NOT.

Excess, theatrics, bold use of colour and a nearly subversive-military [Read more...]

Autumn/Winter 2012: Dsquared² Menswear

It’s kind of like a Hipster met James Dean met Kurt from “Glee” met a member of a contemporary version of the Rat Pack.

That’s what I think of when I see Dean and Dan Caten’s AW12 menswear collection for Dsquared² at Milan Fashion Week.

For some [Read more...]

Autumn/Winter 2012: Ermenegildo Zegna Menswear

When I was a little girl I used to play with Barbie dolls.

Before she broke-up with him, got back together with him and canoodled with him in a “Toy Story” film (what a world we live in, eh?), Barbie was the girlfriend of one Ken doll.

If Ken was going to Aspen, Colorado or somewhere in Switzerland to go skiing, canoodle by a fireplace and drink spiked apple cider, we imagine that “Winter’s Tale” menswear by Ermenegildo Zegna for AW12 at Milan Fashion Week would be his wardrobe of choice. [Read more...]

Autumn/Winter 2012: Jil Sander Menswear

Vampire Lestat calling!

If “The Matrix” made babies with Gotham City (circa Christian Bale’s), we imagine they would resemble Jil Sander’s AW12 Menswear collection from Milan Fashion Week. [Read more...]

Autumn/Winter 2012: Gucci Menswear

We’ve read that the inspiration behind Frida Giannini’s AW12 for Gucci at Milan Fashion Week was Leonardo DiCaprio’s performance as a delicious poet named Arthur Rimbaud in “Total Eclipse.”

Whether you chose to believe (or see) it is purely up to you, but we’ll tell you this: we’re enamored with this collection. [Read more...]

Autumn/Winter 2012: Prada Menswear

It’s like fan of Mr. Darcy’s wardrobe and a multi-generational ensemble of men came to life to star in “Prada Presents: Il Palazzo. A Palace of Role Play.”

It seems like Miuccia Prada planned a spectacular event of theatrics and celebrity.

The space was reconfigured into a court, laden with a red carpet and featuring Gary Oldman, Adrien Brody, Willem DaFoe, Alex Carril, and Jamie Bell in its later portion.

If that isn’t clout, [Read more...]

Autumn/Winter 2012: Salvatore Ferragamo Menswear

After looking at this collection, a fellow blogger told me, “tie me up and give me that!”

Well, that is one way to describe Salvatore Ferragamo’s AW12 Menswear collection from Milan Fashion Week.

It’s an understatement to say that Massimiliano Giornetti [Read more...]

Autumn/Winter 2012: Ports 1961 Menswear

Without sounding too cliche, there is something very Michael Cain circa 1960 meets Tom Ford circa 2000s about the AW12 Ports 1961 Menswear Collection.

Maybe it’s the way Ian Hylton made the pieces feel very classic-MI5 and debonair or maybe it was the fact that he was inspired by the 1930s.

But either way, the gentlemen of the Ports 1961 who walked the runway during Milan Fashion Week looked nothing short of dashing.

Hylton’s refined [Read more...]

Pre-Fall 2012: Just Cavalli

Described as “Molto Italiano does America” by Style.com, there is something to said about the Native American-inspired collection by Just Cavalli for pre-Fall 2012.

While, the label still holds true to its ultra glamorous and extremely sexy roots [Read more...]

{iStyle} Color Controls Milan Fashion Week SS11

Italian designers are heating things up on the Milan runways with their Spring/Summer 2011 collections.

After countless seasons of basic black, this week’s fashion celebration is coming alive with both bright refreshing pallets and bold prints.
