Backstage at New York Fashion Week FW12: Style at Anna Sui

Technicolor cat-eyes are in!

At least they were at Anna Sui’s Fall/Winter 2012 show at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week.

Pat McGrath dolled up the models in an azure blend backstage. [Read more...]

Lady Gaga wearing a one-of-a-kind plush dress made entirely of Hello Kitty dolls!

Usually when dealing with cats whether stray or domestic, they run from you or hide under the bed and are very “keep-to-themselves” loner types.

Well, not this kitty!

She’s popping up everywhere around the world showing off her famous mug and saying ‘Hello’ to everyone!

She’s been doing this for over 35 years and is showing no sign of slowing down.

If you ask me, she’s a bit of a an attention whore.

I’m talking about the uber famous Kitty White, who’s stage name is Hello Kitty. [Read more...]

OPI Gets Bieber Fever (#JustinBieber)

What do you think of when hearing the words ‘Justin Bieber’?

My mind immediately darts to a crowd of screaming tweens trampling over each other as they tweet death threats to Selena Gomez.

I’m pretty sure, the people over at OPI Nail Lacquer thought the exact same thing when creating the new line for their sister company ‘Nicole by OPI’ cleverly named ‘The One Last Lonely Girl Collection‘.

I can’t think of anyone better to endorse the pop culture inspired collection than the Biebs himself.

How extraordinarily genius!

Picture this: you’re a 15-year-old girl in a drug store trying to decide which nail polish you want.

Should you go with the Essie brand for $4, the Sally Hansen for $5 or wait, there he is… a promotional cardboard cutout of Justin is staring right back at you whispering, ‘I know I’m $7.99 but c’mon you know you’ve got the fever!”

Yes, the sale goes to [Read more...]

(& Sasha H. Muradali [product reviews])

We’ve all heard the “green” buzzwords popular among marketers and business leaders: “eco-friendly,” “social-entrepreneurship,” “carbon footprint.”

While, the automotive and technology industries are well known for their leadership in sustainable business, lesser-known but equally important “green” trends can be found in the beauty industry.

In fact, many beauty companies have established unique [Read more...]

{iStyle} Get The Look: PIRET and TAMARA #makeup

PIRET & TAMARA

By: Kelly Ahern, guest blogger

Let’s be serious, very few fashionistas are lucky enough to have their own personal makeup artists at their beck and call.

Some of us are crafty and creative, mixing vibrant shadows and contouring blush, but then there are the select few of us much less make-up savvy, who can barely apply eyeliner.

We all have one common goal though—to look fabulously fierce. [Read more...]

On CNN: Beauty In the Eye of the Beholder Equates the Need for PERFECTION

Malaika Arora via Amrita Arora

Is ethnic beauty

the new ‘it’ factor?

I’m one lucky girl.

I am. I am. I am.

And I would like to personally thank the amazing Liane Membis for including me in her project.

On Monday September 13, 2010 I was quoted in a CNN article about women, beauty and ‘perfection.’ I had quite a few people (friends, Twitter buddies and family) reach out to tell me that they not only agreed with that I said, but they wholeheartedly appreciated that I said it. [Read more...]

{iStyle} Making Vogue in Vogue Again

By: Jenn Ortiz, {iStyle} Editor

Recently, there have been whisperings about a revamp going on at Vogue. After less than stellar ad sales (the bread and butter of any magazine) for the years biggest issue, it’s evident that not all is well at the Conde Nast crown jewel. According to the revamp rumor, Vogue will be focusing on new models, new photographers, and unpredictability. From what I’ve been seeing, everyone seems to agree that it’s a start. Fashionista asked its readers what they would do if they could change the magazine.

So, I asked myself: How would I change Vogue? [Read more...]

{iStyle & Beautirati Combo} The Lazy Girl’s Guide to Looking Fab

Beautirati logo by Sasha H. Muradali. 2009 All Rights Reserved.

I am not a morning person. As much as I love getting dolled up, I can be a bit lazy. Okay, more than a bit. I’m an absolute bum, but I refuse to look like it. I’ve been told I look high maintenance, but the truth is I’m pretty low maintenance. I cut my hair every 4-6 months, wash it every few days, hate to touch-up my makeup, and have a huge snooze button habit. Most days, I roll out of bed, brush teeth, dry shampoo hair, do something with my face, dress, and run. Somewhere in there, I feed and clothe a sleepy small child, take out the dog {which frequently takes up way more time than it should because I swear Lola has A.D.D.}, and deal with any “surprises” that spring up on me at 7 o’clock in the morning {like: “BTW mommy, it’s make your own silly sock day.”}

You’ve heard of the 5-minute face? Right, so start the clock. [Read more...]

{Beautirati} Step Into Summer

Beautirati logo by Sasha H. Muradali. 2009 All Rights Reserved.

New at the Little Pink Book, sporadically on a Thursday, is our new feature called {Beautirati}; our beauty guide. Not a weekly feature, because we won’t cover a topic just because it’s “hot.” Don’t look for the super cheap finds with us either. Our philosophy is: cosmetics go on your face, therefore, while you should keep tabs on your wallet, you shouldn’t be frugal in matters of the face.

We hope to bring you quality, not quantity.

Summer is the warmest time of the year with the longest days. So why not look your best this summer: natural, fun, but enhanced.

We’re not going to lie, that’s what cosmetics do, they enhance your looks. The sooner you realize that, the sooner you can become a more beautiful you.

No need for crazy diets (though we do not advocate eating junk food 24-7) or wearing your skin on your clothes (no, you are not Britney Spears or Aubrey O’Day). No, none of that. Let your inner beauty shine through.

So from us to you, in our first
