MUST HAVES: Guide to Perfectly Primping for the Holiday Season

Trina Turk's Braden Vest with simple white t-shirt from The Gap and Kooba bag

So I don’t know about you — but the holiday season can be rather stressful.

It’s fun, and my favourite time of the year, but seriously?

All the preparations, all the “I don’t know what to wear,” “Crap, I already wore that,” “My head hurts,” “My mascara isn’t going on straight,” “Manicure. Like. Right. Now.” “I broke a nail,” “Who plans a holiday happy hour at 5 p.m.? Some of us work,” “Ugh, they will be there? I don’t want to go anymore, must I?” — Yes, all of that. We’ve all been there. Done. That.

Now here’s how to amend the feelings… just a tad.

From moi to você, a guide of must own items to transition from winter to spring to summer to autumn and back again, setting the right moods and surviving aside from ample amount of Advil and other things…

Happy 1/1/11: It’s a New Dawn, A New Day, A New Decade … So FEEL GOOD!

“Be always at war with your vices,

at peace with your neighbors,

and let each new year find you a better man.”

~ Benjamin Franklin

Tradition dictates that with the dawn of each new year we make resolutions: a means to fix our lives.

But, I’d rather not think about how to ‘fix’ life. I’d rather think about how to live it and rather than resolutions, make a list of affirmations with goals.

So, that being said, for you and for I, welcome to the future!

Even though you can technically change yourself, or improve yourself or circumstances throughout the year, [Read more...]

{Pinkalicious: Foto Lust} Kattaca’s ‘La Esencia de Klimt’

“There is no self-portrait of me.”
- Gustav Klimt

That’s it. It’s official, I’m a total Kattaca fan.

First, they did Art Design for one of my favourite books, The Little Prince, now they grace us with their interpretation of the works of one of my favourite artists, Gustav Klimt.

Klimt (July 14, 1862 – February 6, 1918) was an Austrian Symbolist painter and one of the most well known members of the Vienna Art Nouveau (Vienna Secession) movement. His most successful phase is considered his “Golden Phase” where each of his pieces were painted with gold leaf.

I love this. I mean I really, absolutely, love Kattaca’s interpretation here.

My favourite Klimt piece is “The Kiss” (above.) I had a poster of it that I hung in my dorm room my first year in university. It’s so pure, so colourful and so utterly lovely.

{Pinkalicious: Foto Lust} Kattaca’s ‘El Principito’

“Grown-ups never understand anything by themselves, and it is exhausting for children to have to provide explanations over and over again.”
- The Little Prince by Antoine de Saint-Exupéry

The Little Prince is one of my favourite books…ever. So you can imagine how much in lust, full of glee and blinded bliss I was in when I came across these AMAZING pictures by Kattaca.

The art direction is flawless, in my opinion. The colours, the models, the set design…everything. I could burst I love these photographs so much.

Hands down [Read more...]
