It’s difficult, if you like Representative Anthony Weiner, to not feel regret for a career undone.
Watching this absurd drama play out in public has been uncomfortable. And it’s downright frightening to watch a career so filled with promise come apart at the seams.
Following Rep. Weiner’s travails, Falstaff came to mind when he said, “The better part of valor is discretion.â€
After all, in lying Weiner was trying merely to save his life.
Who can say with complete certainty he or she wouldn’t do the same if faced with a public revelation that threatened every aspect of his personal and professional life? [Read more...]
My name is Leila Levi and I am a feminist.
I wanted to come clean by being upfront with what many millennials see as a “dirty word.†The connotation of being a feminist among young women in 2011 can be of ‘bra burners ‘and ‘man-haters.’ I despise that such a narrow and derogatory view of feminism is expressed so frequently. I call it derogatory because it labels women who are feminists negatively, as if they are screaming stereotypes relegated to the fringes of society. Feminists are in every corner of the globe and come from all walks of life.
Feminism is about equality and civil rights, believes that women are created equal and, with very rare exception, should be treated equally under the law. [Read more...]

When we were growing up and often fighting with our siblings then tattling on them immediately to start trouble your wise parents probably said,
“There are 2 sides to every story. Let me see what your brothers/sisters have to say.â€
In a recent article for Forbes, journalist Lauren Indvik approached the story surrounding luxury brands (Jimmy Choo, Burberry, Marc Jacobs, etc) and what occurs when these labels attempt to incorporate social media into their marketing campaigns.
As it turns out, there are several sides to the story about whether social media will generate an increase in sales, and more importantly raise top-of-mind awareness for luxury brands. [Read more...]
The last two letters and the colours are the same. There is also a giant exclamation point.
But are they the same?
Apparently for attorney Wiley Horton, the Tallahassee lawyer working for former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush (R), the logos are identical and Florida Senate candidate Deborah Gianoulis (D) is guilty of violating a federal trademark by using the red-and-white “Deb!†logo for her campaign.
“Jeb!†is the [Read more...]
On July 31, 2010, former First Daughter and American Royalty (since the days of John F. Kennedy at least,) Chelsea Clinton married Marc Mezvinsky in an interfaith ceremony (Clinton is Methodist, Mezvinsky is Jewish) in Rhinebeck, NY.
Both the bride and her bridesmaids wore pieces designed by [Read more...]

Imelda Marcos has nothing on this Prehistoric Fashionista.
Ms. Marcos may be the most prolific owner of shoes today with over 3,000 pairs, but she has an unknown Armenian trend-setter to thank for starting the shoe-wearing initiative. Without this lady who lived over 5,500 years ago, before Stonehenge and the Egyptian Pyramids, who knows, Imelda might be wearing Birkenstocks!
A few days ago, the New York Times reported that Archaeologists have found what they believe is the world’s oldest known leather shoe [Read more...]
Live from New York — it’s Sarah Palin!…not.
I was in fits and giggles when Tina Fey parodied then-Governor Sarah Palin in 2008 on Saturday Night Live! It was witty, scarily on-target and showcased what Tina Fey is so great at doing — making people laugh.
The girl’s got skill.
Fey’s Palin sketches from 2008 were some of the biggest viral Internet hits of the year.
April 10, 2010 marked a second homecoming for Fey, who also is the brains behind the hit television comedy 30 Rock, as she rose from obscurity through Saturday Night Live! throughout the late 1990s and into the 2000s.
Oh and by the way teenage girls — Justin Bieber was alongside Mrs. Fey.
Watch the video below and some pretty accurate political alignments play:- [Read more...]
My friend Cydia sent this to me in the midst of my move from Miami to NYC and I’m only now getting to it. So this isn’t new news, except to me of course, but still, wow and a bit of WTF?
Basically, the billboard advertisement states that “Black Children Are an Endangered Species” and was pushed [Read more...]

“More Than Just a Name.”
In August 2009, I blogged about Bollywood super legend Shah Rukh Khan being wrongfully detained in Newark Airport on the heels of filming My Name is Khan:-
Ironically, “My Name is Khan†is the name of an upcoming Shah Rukh Khan film that tells the story of an innocent Muslim’s experience being mistakenly identified as a terrorist in the United States in the wake of 9/11. Khan will play a man with Asperger syndrome, which makes his behavior erratic. The fictional Khan of the film, sets out on a trip to find President Obama to persuade him that he is not a terrorist. The film has been picked up by American film company Fox Searchlight for international distribution after its release in 2010.
Detained by ignorance and a large set of misgivings it was a diplomacy and public relations nightmare.
But, less than six months later, Fox Searchlight released the trailer and you can see it below [Read more...]
Did Amanda Knox kill her roommate? I have no idea, but I do know that there has been a media circus surrounding the trial since day one.

*** Author’s Note: Hi everyone, I have a little story to share with you. It’s about something that happened to me and I don’t want to make a big deal out of it or prolong it into an event of any kind. But I felt the need to share it with you and educate you about why harassment is NOT okay. You can find suggestions/links/resources towards the end of this post.
I hope you find this post educational and do not take it as a form of “cop bashing,” for I assure you it is anything but that.***
On Saturday night, I was driving home by myself after I had spent the afternoon and early evening down the street watching the Florida Gators game with a few friends.
Traveling in the slow/right lane, I went under the overpass of the 826 highway and I passed a shopping plaza on the right hand side of 67th Avenue that contained a Marathon Gas Station.
The light was green and it was just another semi-busy evening in my neighbourhood [Read more...]
I fell for it.
You fell for it.
We all fell down the rabbit hole and through the looking glass for it.
On Thursday October 15, 2009 we all watched as a little 6-year old boy named Falcon was supposedly drifting across the state of Colorado after climbing into his parents homemade hot air balloon. [Read more...]
