Brad Pitt for Chanel N°5: There You Are

A legendary bottle, belonging to a legendary feminine fragrance, brought to you by a legendary man.

“What’s important to remember about CHANEL N°5 is how revolutionary this fragrance is; when it was introduced, it broke all the rules,” says Pitt.

“N°5 has always been the most iconic women’s fragrance. That’s what I see being the appeal of this campaign; it goes beyond the abstract of emotion or beauty to evoke what is timeless: a woman’s spirit.”

Welcome to Brad Pitt’s CHANEL N°5. [Read more...]

An Interview with Tanc Sade

Last time we chatted with Tanc Sade, nearly two years ago, he was fresh of off Gilmore Girls, in the midst of producing with his film company, Five Island Films and seeking his next big adventure on the Southern California horizon.

Tanc spared some time for me and we caught up on everything from his acting career, producing and the love of his life, diving. [Read more...]

An Evening With Snow White and The Huntsman, NBC Universal and [yellow tail]

We seriously heart the folks at NBC Universal and [yellow tail]. They really know how to throw intimate, fun, exceptionally well-catered and put together events.

Whenever we step into a NBC Universal and [yellow tail] production it is always feels like we’ve stepped into another world.

Thereby, the NBC Universal and [yellow tail] blu-ray/DVD launch of “Snow White and The Huntsman” was nothing short of an ‘outstanding’ that even Dolores Umbridge couldn’t argue with it.

Minerva McGonagall would be proud.

Ignore our sleepless, New York Fashion Week, extremely tired face… rather pay attention to our pretty dress, red lips and cutsey wedges! *wheeee* Go us! :)

Centered around the theme of “Good and Evil” (we felt very Florence + The Machine “Shake it Out” music video-esque), the night was full of delicious [Read more...]

The Rekall of Total Recall

I live in Gotham City and we have strange things that happen here.

No, really.

We do.

So about a month ago when I started seeing these strange adverts for something called ‘Rekall’ with their whole “Tell us your fantasy. We’ll make it real” slogan, I was kind of confused.

I imagined it had to be some gimmick by Madame Tussauds or a weird strip club advertising some type of mind-blowing (no pun intended) fantasies.

Heck, for all I knew, it was some odd country club trying to be a combination of Nectar Island meets A Small World in scene of augmented reality on Innovations-crack a la Disney Orlando. [Read more...]

Hunger Games Mixology: DISTRICT 7,8,9,10,11 and 12 Cocktails

By: Ashley Bryce, Liana Cole and Sasha Muradali

Each year the Hunger Games are held inside the Capitol, in the county of Panem.

Panem rose out of the rubble that once was North America and had thirteen districts that surround it, each having a unique purpose. Tired of servitude, the thirteen districts of Panem rebelled against the Capitol and the nation turned into a battle ground.

In the end, the Capitol held down the resistance and District 13, known of its nuclear power, was destroyed in a disaster.

The twelve remaining districts signed the Treaty of Treason and the Hunger Games were born as a punishment for the costly rebellion.

Each year the districts have to sacrifice one girl and one boy, known as tributes, to the games. These tributes engage in a battle to the death with
one survivor.

The victor who goes back to his or her district with fame and fortune.

In recognition of these yearly games, we present drinks for the remaining 6 districts of Panem.

The 84th #Oscars is such a #FAIL because…

Ugh, Muggles.”

- Lord Voldemort

… Melissa McCarthy can get a Supporting Actress nomination for playing an obnoxious, disgusting, cringe-worthy piece of trash (yes, I said it! and no I’m not taking it back) named Megan Price in Bridesmaids, BUT Alan Rickman (aka international acting royalty) cannot get a nod for his role as Severus Snape, a character who has officially taken its regal place in literary history as a contemporary Byronic and tragic hero like Heathcliff, in Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part II. A Look Inside ‘Harry Potter: The Exhibition’

Harry Potter fans can rejoice, as Harry Potter: The Exhibition is on tour!

I was so excited about this. I can’t tell you how excited I was, in fact. This was mostly because when the tour stopped at the Discovery Times Center in New York City it was a previously unscheduled stop.

You must, must, must go see this in person. It’s amazing!

New York also served as the tour’s final stop in the United States before it headed abroad. [Read more...]

Harry Potter and the Self-Created Opportunity

It’s no secret that one of my favourite book series of all-time is Harry Potter by J.K. Rowling.

As the second part of the final film, Harry Potter & the Deathly Hallows Part II, approaches I couldn’t help but stop and think about its author and her story.

And as the story goes, Rowling wrote the first novel and the major crux of her ideas on napkins because she was too poor to afford paper, had been a horrendous, tumultuous relationship and was left with a baby and on her own.

Fast-forward, and Rowling is one of history’s most successful authors having sold well over 400 million (and counting) Harry Potter books.

It’s quite the reinvention story, if there ever was one. But, what I find the most inspiring about it, was that Rowling didn’t let her circumstances stop her from achieving her dream. [Read more...]

Harry Potter Mixology: Lord Voldemort, Harry Potter, Horcrux, and the Golden Snitch Cocktail Concoctions

By: Ashley Bryce and Liana Cole

“The one with the power to vanquish the Dark Lord approaches … born to those who have thrice defied him, born as the seventh month dies … and the Dark Lord will mark him as his equal, but he will have power the Dark Lord knows not … and either must die at the hand of the other for neither can live while the other survives … the one with the power to vanquish the Dark Lord will be born as the seventh month dies …”

- Sybill Trelawney prophesying to Albus Dumbledore (Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix)

The prophecy that was overheard by Severus Snape set into motion a series of events that connected Lord Voldemort and Harry Potter altering their lives forever.

Lord Voldemort sought out to stop the prophecy instead brought it to life, giving Harry a lightning scar and himself becoming mangled.

Destiny is best described both sharing striking similarities: half-bloods, orphaned, and viewed Hogwarts as their first real home.

But it is the differences that ultimately mattered with Voldemort caring about no one but himself and Harry holding a love of others.

The final drink Mixology post is dedicated to the Dark Lord and the Boy Who Lived! [Read more...]

Harry Potter Mixology: Hagrid, Hermione, Ron, and Sirius Cocktail Concoctions

Harry Potter Mixology: Dumbledore, McGonagall, Lupin, Snape Concoctions

By: Ashley Bryce and Liana Cole

The Harry Potter world would not be as magical if it wasn’t for the professors at Hogwarts Witchcraft and Wizardry.

The students are taught to brew, to charm, to transfigure, to take care of magical plants, and to defend themselves against the darkest arts.

Without these amazing teachers Harry would not have learned the hardest of lessons.

I dedicate these drinks to Harry’s greatest advisers. [Read more...]

Harry Potter Mixology: Gryffindor, Hufflepuff, Ravenclaw and Slytherin Concoctions

By: Ashley Bryce and Liana Cole

“By Gryffindor, the bravest were
Prized far beyond the rest;
For Ravenclaw, the cleverest
Would always be the best;

For Hufflepuff, hard workers were
Most worthy of admission;
And power-hungry Slytherin
Loved those of great ambition.”

-Sorting Hat (Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire)

Hogwarts is divided into four living and learning communities named after the four founders: Godric Gryffindor, Helga Hufflepuff, Rowena Ravenclaw, and Salazar Slytherin.

As Professor McGonagall stated in the Sorcerer’s Stone, “[Y]our house will be something like your family. You will have classes with the rest of your house, sleep in your house dormitory and spend free time in your house common room.” [Read more...]
