So there is this on going joke in my family, that my dad started, that I was born in the wrong decade (I beg to differ, mind you!)

Why? Because I really like music like this…

I love the lyrics, the folk-like sounds, the strums of the guitar and just the overall feel these songs convey.

I’m not a fan of a lot of 1970s music to be honest, but I adore these tunes! :)

“Come Monday” - Jimmy Buffett

I went to the University of Florida and my mentor Jess was obsessed with Buffett. That was my introduction. Visited Margaritaville chillaxing in Otown one weekend and the hired entertainment was singing this (a fellow Gator.) I was hooked. Heck, even Kenny Chesney covered this song and he was so good!

“If You Could Read My Mind” - Gordon Lightfoot

“I’d Really Like to See You Tonight” - England Dan & John Ford Coley

I never knew the name of this song, or who sang it until I watched the 2010 Grammy Awards! They played a snippet of this song in the “Rest in Peace” montage because Dan Seals aka England Dan passed away in 2009.

“You Are the Woman” - Firefall

“Cracklin Rosie” - Neil Diamond

So the first time I heard this I thought he was singing about a hooker or some prostitute because he says “cracklin rose you’re a store bought woman.” Actually, and this made me laugh, he’s singing about cheap wine!

… mix in some Bob Dylan, a little Beatles, a lot of the Four Seasons, some swinging Sinatra, quite a bit of Abba and then three tracks from Gary Puckett and the Union Gap and that’s a part of my music collection! :)
