This post is a very long time in coming and I saved it for today because I think it would make a good Christmas present for any young girl getting into makeup. It’s Black Friday weekend and I know a lot of you are going shopping so I wanted to throw this into your basket for consideration.
The Pixi Wakeup Kit come with 18 eye shadows, 2 concealers/eye primers, 8 lip glosses and 2 baked cheek powder duos all for $34.00 USD. It’s a $130 value if you had to purchase everything on it’s own. That’s a steal.
As you can see the packaging is also economical and friendly. All the shadows are in the center, the blushes on the left-hand side and the lipglosses on the right-hand side. While there is nothing flashy or extraordinary about the packaging, it’s clean, small and easy to travel with.
When companies put out kits and palettes I’m one of those people who likes her products up front and center. I hate packaging that is mostly for “show” (like the Urban Decay Book of Shadows II I blogged about).

10 years of sweetness and light!
The reason I suggest this kit for a young girl is because the colours are very light and very natural, or just like Pixi says, it’s “sweetness and light!”
This kit is also perfect if you want to wear makeup, but stick to natural and rose tones. This isn’t the type of makeup to get if you prefer heavy duty pigments and bright colors. As I said in a previous post, my mom really loves Pixi as well as my friend Stephanie because of its airy colours and smooth textures.
This is the first time I’ve tired Pixi lipglosses and while I like their texture on my lips, I’m not a fan of the colours for my skin tone. What I mean by that is, because I’m more of a creamy-tan skin tone, most of theses glosses show up rather lightly on me, the darker shades are better. On the flip side, they show up as you see them above on my mom. So take your skin tone into consideration when purchasing.
On that same note, what I do love about this palette are the blushes. These duos give you the rich colour of a blush, but also the highlights of a mystery powder or of a shimmering bronzer. I’m sorry my photo is dull, the lighting was bad. Check out the image above of the entire kit and you’ll see them better.

There is one particular colour in the palette that I really, really love and it’s a bronze shadow. It reminds me of Bronze from MAC except that it is a little bit more orange. You can see it above on my lid in the center. I think it’s great, bright and vibrant.
If you really like sheer pinks, purples and grays this palette is for your because it’s loaded with these tones. Something else you might appreciate is that Pixi’s shadows are smooth and exceedingly easy to blend. You can foil them or use them wet if you like, but I prefer them dry. They blend well both ways. Both images above as using the shadows dry.
