2009 07 projectrunway {iStyle} Project Runway & Models of The Runway: Model Challenge

By: Jenn Ortiz

Seriously Comcast, WTF! I went to my DVR to watch last week’s elimination and it cut off right before the runway. Rawr. Luckily, I had guessed right. Christopher was finally eliminated. As for this episode, much like the entire season, I’m pretty sure I snored at some point. I just want you all to take a moment and think back to season’s past and the fabulousness that came down the runway. Can you see these 3 pulling that off? No, me neither. Le Sigh.

Stop 1. Carol Hannah in Huntington NY?! Inspired by Duke University architecture by night. That lilac dress is adorable. Love the rope detail, and holy crap she made pants and shorts. I love the little bits of details. I see color cohesion, so far. She definitely has a niche.

Stop 2. Irina on the Upper East Side. Inspiration: Coney Island. I think Tim favors Irina. He just seemed so excited to see her. I’ve got to say, I love her chunky knits. I’m just not sure about the rest.

Stop 3. Althea – Inspiration: Sci-Fi ladies. Tim looks like he might just run away from where she is working! I can’t tell if her collection is cohesive or not. It looks well constructed.

This isn’t an elimination episode, so I’m going to summarize:

  • Irina got in trouble for not using original artwork. Like, the producers and lawyers called up Tim and had him deliver the news to Irina. She then proceeds to say that Althea is copying her again. Homegirl needs to get her shiz-nit straight.
  • Loved Althea’s big awkward smile in seeing Irina again. Just nod and smile, sweetheart.
  • Carol Hannah had a stomach flu and oh lord is she so not into the drama in the work room. For example:
Irina labels the remaining three as “The three musketeers…”, to which Carol Hannah says “Don’t get too close.” Hmm, that could be read in more ways than one.
  • Seriously, could we just call this the Irina v. Althea showdown? I am so surprised they didn’t fight over models.
  • Tim didn’t criticize Carol Hannah’s collection very much. Is that a sign?
Althea however felt free to criticize everyone. Maybe she caught some Irina.
  • Yay, Nina & Michael together! Carol didn’t expect them. I wonder why the hell that is? Hmmm maybe because they haven’t been there? Move the show back to NYC, please.
  • Directly after Nina and Michael give consultations Irina busts out with: “I disagree with Nina.” Famous parting words?
  • A new look last minute. Of course? At least they get help from the rejects.
And now it’s time to hang on for another week until we end this snorefest.

For the first time in weeks, I watched that stupid model show that airs right after. The only reason I’m watching this is because the models actually get to do something interesting!!! The final 3, now dubbed the muse models, will cast the 13th model for the final look. They did a pretty good job. Seeing them do something besides giggle, bitch-out, and walk is a rather interesting concept. If Lifetime keeps the show, I suggest making them participate in challenges more.
