Ah, the sounds of the holiday season, can you hear them? The smell of Spiced Apple cider and the shiny red glaze of red apples dipped in candy.

It’s all so delicious and scrum-dil-li-di-umptious.

Every year, on November first, the reds come out…to lacquer up the nails of ladies across the globe. Sure there are lots of brands out there – but my favourite has always been OPI, followed by Creative Nails.

Personally, I enjoy their Nail Envy (in the original formula – green packaging) which I use as a base coat. I always top off my manicure with Creative’s Speedy Nail Dry (clear, bottle, blue label) lacquer. This top coat is thin, doesn’t smell too heavily and dries my nails quicker than anything else I’ve EVER encountered – including RapiDry from OPI.

So in lieu of the reds, I give you my favourite, listed in order:

1. Double Decker Red

– my favourite red…ever. Sure it’s named after a bus, but seriously this red is AMAZING! I would wear it for Valentine’s, Summer and Christmas. It’s THAT perfect. I loveee it :)

2. Edin-Burgundy

– it’s a sleek, deep shade of matted, shiny goodness. It’s a bit dark. So much so it almost reminds me of the juice from a blood orange crossed with that of a dark red cherry. But it’s not a depressing shade. Edid-Burgundy is actually very vibrant and rich.

3. Cara-mia Crimson

– I’m sure this would make even Jack Sparrow blush. Like Double Decker Red, I use this all year long. I don’t care if reds are in season or not, I LOVE this colour.

4. You Make Mr Vroom

– it’s like a tomato, hot, lightly orange red. It’s very holiday-like…or very race car like. The choice is yours.

5. Red-Y To Help

– I like to call this me pretending to me by mom, because it’s a foil-shimmering type of shade. I typically only use it if I’m going somewhere sleek and cocktail like. It’s a very mature, posh colour. So keep that in mind.

6. I’m Really Not a Waitress (not pictured)

– this used to be one of my favourite reds ever. Double Decker Red replaced it. I used to wear it so much, I got sick of it. But I had to mention it because in all actuality it’s a beautiful colour. I’m Really Not a Waitress is shiny, bright, red liquid metal in a bottle. It reminds me of a candy apple…except on your fingers.
