Guiness%20Pub%20Finder%2003 PR WIN: Guinness Launches Pub Finder iPhone app for 250th Birthday

Back in April, we told you about GUINNESS launching a special edition stout for their 250th birthday. Then July rolled around and we saw how ABSOLUT revved up the competition for alcoholmania with Drinkspiration, “mobile technology with GPS, Twitter and Facebook.”

Well, guess what? Now GUINNESS has one too!

That’s right, GUINNESS , our favourite beer from across the pond just launched their own iPhone App in celebration of the their 250th Anniversary.

For $1.99 USD, using the iPhone GPS function you can search over 5,000 bars (“pubs”) in the United States. You can not only find the nearest pub serving GUINNESS draughts and stouts, but this app also features a “one-touch” address book so you can easily find your friends and invite them along.

The nerd that I am, the coolest thing about this app is the “Know Your Pint” feature. Basically, GUINNESS will tell your bartender “How to” pour a GUINNESS the right way. Talk about lushy snark! I love it! This nifty feature is alongside the “Pint Head Ruler,” which ensures that the head of your drink is not only accurate but up to the standards set by GUINNESS themselves.

Like ABSOLUT, the GUINNESS app also includes a guide of sorts, this time called “DRINKiQ” which shares important facts about alcohol, so its users can be responsible drinkers. (We like that!)

As Drinkspiration, the users of the iPhone app will get periodic updates from GUINNESS with new pubs, information, mini-games, quizzies and other promotions.

This app features something called “Arthur’s Day,” after their founder. In celebration of their 250th, it includes animated screensavers, a countdown clock and a “250 newsfeed.”

(**IMPORTANT REMINDER: BY DOWNLOADING THIS APP YOU ARE VERIFYING THAT YOU ARE OVER THE U.S. LEGAL DRINKING AGE OF 21+ YEARS.**
This feature is NOT available in Alaska, Arizona, Arkansas, Georgia, Hawaii, Indiana, Kentucky, Montana, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Texas and West Virgina. These states prohibit the use of this “pub finger” so according to Apple, this feature will not function in those states.)
