You know how much I love Etsy — anyway, I came across this brand called Cheeky Cosmetics out of Canada. Chantal, who owns Cheeky, was kind enough to send me some samples:-
Swatch Info (top to bottom), based with Shell cream colour base from MAC
Right Side – Pretty blush, Chocolate, Platinum
Left Side – Bamboo, Raspberry, Lemon Twist, Onyx
Camera (because someone emailed and asked me):
Canon SD750 on “Digital Macro” with camera’s “lighting” and “exposure” manually set by me.
Eyes:
Primer
Chocolate eyeshadow – it’s a muted brown
Lemon Twist pure pigment – almost foil like
Raspberry Sorbet pure pigment – again, almost foil like, but intense
Silk eyeshadow – very light, very sheer highlight
Bamboo eyeshadow – same as Silk, it’s sheer, light and makes a good highlight for the upper lid below the brow, or on the lower lid as a brightener.
Eyeliner:
Onyx pure pigment <— think of MAC’s Black Black pigment, this a bit lighter in pigment, but goes on smoother to build to making darker IMO.
Made into a liner w/ I Touch Roses eyeliner potion.
Lips:
Pomegranate
Cheeks:
Pretty Blush
**Also the products are all-natural and certified vegan.**
Thoughts:
I like the eyeshadows. They are just as pigmented as Chantal promises and the textures are really nice too. I have no complaints. Same goes for the blushes. The lip gloss, however, not my thing. I think I might be spoiled by MAC and CO Bigelow because I tend to prefer my glosses thick, gooey and highly pigmented. So I’m not quite sure these for were for me.
If I had to choose three products from the set I enjoyed the most, I would say the two highlighters, Bamboo and Silk — as well as, the Pretty blush. The blush can be as natural or as heavy as you want it and it blends very, very nicely. For photo purposes, not going to lie, I did lay it on thick.
When it comes to highlighters for your eyes, I’m picky. I think it has a lot to do with my skin tone, but I’m the most critical person. I find that too often, especially with the “highlight” pigmented stuff, even from the likes of Stila, MAC and Urban Decay, in pictures, your highlight eyeshadow looks more like a lid colour than a highlight. I did not come across this problem at all with Cheeky Cosmetics and I really like that
If you want to try something new and mineral, check it out.
P.S.
One a side note, NO, I am not wearing lip liner…that’s a natural lip line on my lips that is enhanced depending on which shade of lipstick I’m wearing. I am a big fan of my genes. And please ignore, my highlights in my hair that need some updating :-/
