The 3rd trailer for the latest Harry Potter  film, “Year 6: Harry Potter & The Half-Blood Prince,” just released and it’s looking pretty wicked.

Could this be the BEST Potter film to date? Or, are we being fooled and tempted with promises of delectable goodness, to a film rated PG?

I was under the impression the Potter films were supposed to get darker, just as the book series did?

April 25, 2009 UPDATE:
Director says, Potter is “actually about sex, potions, and rock ‘n’ roll.”

This film is a bit more sexualized than that. You know, in a way. We don’t see sex, but it’s kind of in there. And the relationships are a bit more complicated and romantic and convoluted. So we’re pushing into new emotional and kind of physical territory for Harry Potter.

It’s still a PG rating — what do you think?

  • Who the hell is orgasming in the middle of the trailer???? Head thrown back, arms out, open mouthed scream! Romalda Vane, Cho Chang, or Merietta???
  • I think the inferni look like Gollum from Lord of the Rings.

    And why for Pete's sake is the cave blue? The glow is green thank you very much! It comes from the potion - oy it's like they didn't read the book.

    Of course if Dumbledore actually teaches Harry how to fight instead of leaving it just to memory lane trips then I'll forgive them for the additional "let's burn the Burrow" scene.

    This is also the first time Draco has looked cute to me.
  • Oh, I agree that it *seems* darker. But a PG rating would beg to differ.

    No doubt it looks amazing. I'm very excited about seeing the film.

    I guess we'll have to wait and see...
  • It seems darker. Especially when compared to the first movie (which was, in my opinion, as uninspiring as the first book.)

    The third movie kind of fell a little flat for me, as they all seem to climax way too quickly and far too late into the movie. I think that was also the trouble with the first few books.

    I think with the amount they'll have to cut out of the fourth to make it fit into a movie format, they can play around and pick and choose aspects of the book that will increase the suspense and overall enjoyment of the movie because it won't feel just like a transcribed book.

    The trailer looks awesome.
