Robert Pattinson as Edward Cullen, the vampire, in Twilight the movie

I read about this concept in The Energy Bus {Bookworm Reviews} Some Jon Gordon and 5 Ways to Blast the Energy Vampire by Jon Gordon.

The Energy Bus is a very short and quick read, written in a narrative style. A fast reader could whip through it in an hour — two at the most.

In a nut shell, the story is about an energy vampire, who is a person who sucks the motivation out of another person. They are joy-killers and inspire depression for all those they touch.

How many people can think of somebody like this in their lives? I know I can think of a few.

How do you combat them and their negative influence?

1. Don’t tell them anything.

If they don’t know what it is that has you psyched they can’t burst your bubble.

2. Ignore them.

Simple. Direct. To the point. If you ignore the ‘vampire’ they can’t destroy your ‘groove.’

3. Confront them.

Point out what they’re doing and tell them to stop. Politely of course.

4. Convert them.

Not always the easiest route to go, but if you can convert the ‘vampire’ to your side you now have a cheerleader. *yay!* Go you!

5. Be the cheerleader.

The fastest way to blast an energy ‘vampire’ is to be the positive voice in the situation.

What are some other ways you can think of to combat energy vampires? I know you know a couple of them…
