Barnes and Noble, the happiest place on earth according to me, has finally done it – they’ve opened an e-book store. Move over Kindle, you have competition.
With 700,000 titles and growing, the company is offering 500,000 of those for FREE via a partnership with Google Books.
My biggest concern, which is more like a question – does this mean another nail on the coffin that reads “Print is Dead?”
I hope not.
I spoke about this before, but as time progresses, ever so quickly, books – their ravishing scents, delicate pages and inky notes are becoming obsolete.
Soon, I gather, there will be no such thing as high-priced ‘antique’ books. I foresee books on the whole, being ‘antique’ eventually.
How sad.
What does this new venture by Barnes & Noble mean for the future of publishing and literary retail? Does this equate the eventual end of the ‘midnight book parties?’
You can visit their new e-store here.
