R.I.P. Michael Jackson

All controversy aside, Michael Jackson was unforgettable. He carved out his image and his style in a way that was legendary. A single sequined glove, a military style jacket, a fedora, a white shirt, short-hemmed black pants, white ankle socks – all of it became almost inseparable from Jackson’s image. No doubt, he was set to take the fashion and world stage again with his planned 50 concert tour; Swarovski had just announced that his costumes would contain over 300,000 crystals in a variety of color and sizes. He inspired Balmain, who recently sent a now popular military jacket down the runway that was undeniably Jackson, and in turn, he was spotted wearing several Balmain pieces. His proposed auction, which was eventually decided against, had caught the attention of fans and fashionistas everywhere. Although his influence had never fully left fashion, Jackson himself had returned to the fashion spotlight. It is a sad loss for the fashion world.
