LOOKSISM: Kardashian Look Alike Surgery Is What’s Wrong With Today’s Culture

People want to be everyone but themselves.

Heidi Montag did it, so did Victoria Beckham, Demi Moore, Charice Pempengco, Tara Reid, Ashley Tisdale, Madonna and countless others.

It’s this inherent desire to be “perfect.”

Sheyla Hershey could tell anyone who would care to listen all about it. After all, she’s the current world-record holder for the globe’s largest breasts (no pun intended.)

A desire that could eventually kill her.

I’ve been mulling over this for awhile but didn’t want to beat a dead horse into the ground. Except on Saturday July 24, 2010 Kim Kardashian showed up on my Twitter feed, highlighting something that really gets under my skin.

How to Photoshop Yourself into a Avatar Na’vi – v2 #tutorial

If you are a frequent visitor of my blog, you know that I made an Avatar Na’vi Adobe Photoshop tutorial at the beginning of January.

That tutorial was made doing a lot of Photoshop manipulations and cloning. This time around for VERSION 2 I did everything from scratch in a pure digital art setting. This means, I didn’t clone from an Avatar image and I sat down with my Wacom Intuos 3 and painted my brains out.

I think it came out WAY better! … and it’s far easier!

The world is a pretty messed up place and continues to prove me right.

This is especially true when I see things like redheaded bombshell Christina Hendricks being called fat, or in this case a “big girl”, by the New York Times with a matching, distorted image to ‘prove’ it. Not only that, but recently, they seem to have no problems letting their entertainment writers perpetrate unhealthy body images to their readers like some gossip rag.

It’s sad.

I, like a lot of other Photoshop addicts, was awed by the graphics in James Cameron’s ‘Avatar.’ I was in awe so much so, that I really wanted to try my hand at making myself into a Na’vi.

I’m not going to sugar coat it and tell you it was easy. Unless you are a graphic design wizard (which I’m not, I’m just a girl who likes Photoshop) this is going to be a challenge.
