As the summer hits its last month this August, everyone (besides the state of Florida) is trying to spend as much time as possible outside in the sunshine.

With that in mind, together with Frangelico, Giada De Laurentiis has shared the recipe for her signature Frangelico cocktail, The Frizzante, as well as some tips on how you can host your own Italian-inspired al fresco dining experience at home!

Al Fresco Entertaining

  • Family style is my favorite way of serving an outdoor Italian gathering.
    • Everyone is family when they come over to my place so I like to get them all involved in carrying the dishes out the table as I finish plating them. That way, when I am through with plating, the food is magically already where it should be and we are ready to eat!
  • One benefit of serving food family style is it gives people options and gets people talking.
    • Guests can help themselves and go back for seconds of what they love without making anyone to get up and leave the table. Be sure to make enough food for everyone to have a little bit of everything.

  • Keep the table fresh, light and welcoming by using simple white plates and limiting glassware.
    • With the passing of food and drink around the table, no one wants to knock anything over.
  • I like to use small individual succulents for color and life around the table.
    • I often encourage guest to take one home with them as a parting gift after the meal.
