Nolcha SS13: Best of British Menswear feat. Pretty Green, Bolongaro Trevor, Firetrap and Richard Smith Prêt à Porter

Bolongaro Trevor SS13

It was love at first bespoke.

Menswear. All the tailoring, cuts, cuffs, classic Oxford footwear, Converse styles and… well, men. So when I found out NOLCHA was showcasing the Best of British Menswear on behalf of STITCH, I absolutely had to attend.

“With 2012 being the year of everything British, we are excited by the opportunity to deliver a cross section of British menswear and to celebrate this with Nolcha, our New York partners.”
- Brian Duffy, Founder of STITCH Menswear

  • PRETTY GREEN

Pretty Green is a a British clothing label founded and designed by Liam Gallagher (the former lead singer of the British rock band, Oasis.) It has two different distinctive collections. The Green Label which focuses primarily on a casual range of pieces that provide utility, as well as quality. The second is their Black Label which is extremely classic in all things British tailoring using fine fabrics with unique accents to detail.

  • FIRETRAP

Founded in 1993, Firetrap uses its roots to it’s advantage. Capitalizing on the fact that the brand is designed in London by British designers, they consider themselves defined by the “London look,” taking their inspiration from all the sights, sounds and flavors the the city has to offer. True to the edgy, the dangerous, the individual, the English and the uncompromising they ooze the culture of the young and free.

  • BOLONGARGO TREVOR

Founded and designed by Kait Bolongaro and Stuart Trevor, the original designers behind the cult retail store group All Saints Retail ltd., Bolongaro Trevor is as unique and commercial as it is contemporary and comfortable. Their SS13 collection includes handmade pieces that were inspired by vintage finds amassed over the past 20-years. They pride themselves on bringing together modern, sharp sculptured aesthetic with a moody, hard edge.

The jackets in their SS13 collection, in particular, were nothing short of perfection.

  • RICHARD SMITH Prêt à Porter

Richard Smith Prêt à Porter, a line of bespoke garments using handmade cloth from leading British mills. The interesting thing about this particular collection was that the show featured a series of notable New York City business men walking in the show: including Ryan Serhant (star of Million Dollar Listing New York on Bravo, who will be onsite to film his modelling debut for the show), Peter Shankman (Founder of HARO), and Sergio Fernandez de Cordova (Global Entrepreneurs Council at United Nations).

As for the clothing, it was flawless. Extremely well tailored with attention to precise fine details. Silks and luxurious cottons were no where in absence and the overall feel was simply…gentlemanly.

Happy Fashion Week!
