Susan and I afterwards grabbing a late night turkey burger and mac’n'cheese at Chat’n'Chew in Union Square
Every year my best friend Susan and I attend Fashion’s Night Out New York in SoHo.
Call it one of our yearly traditions and 2012 was no different. It was our third year participating.
We even have a game — each year we try to visit more stores than the year before and try to meet at least one designer along the way. We also make a point to wear flat shoes (*yay!* for TOMS!), do our hair/makeup, dress up and most of all have more fun than the year before!
So we keep a tight schedule and go-go-go!
This year we went to (not in order):-
- Mulberry
- BCBGMaxAzria
- Cole Haan
- ILORI
- Karen Millen
- L’Occitane en Provence
- Monika Chiang
- American Apparel
- Sabon
- Michael Kors
- Osklen
- Redken 5th Avenue (Sasha)
- Bobbi Brown at Macy’s Herald Square (Susan)
Considering we did eight last year, I think 12 (if you count that we did a place individually each) is a vast difference. Though, according to Susan, it was a true 13 if Kenneth Cole didn’t close early (Really? Really. Really!)
True to the reason Anna Wintour invented it — for shopping — that’s what we did.
Favourite place, hands down every year is Mulberry!
We adored, and I mean adored, their Fashion’s Night Out in 2012!
I don’t know, it must be something about the golden crowns, men in British fox hunting gear, the super cute tote bags or the masks… No idea.
But for us, they are a must-go! Plus, the staff is nothing short of phenomenal! (Hi, Edwin!)
BCBGMaxAzria is a total awesome-180 for us. If you remember well, in 2010 we had a horrid experience there.
But as true fans of Max Azria we returned year after year and this year we made new friends!
The new staff at the SoHo store is personable, kind and undoubtedly some of the nicest people we met all night. In fact, we ran into a few on our subway ride after.
Redken. Oh, Guido! Oh, Cutler! Me gusta! What can I say?
Complimentary blow-dry, chilling out to champagne, great music and little munchies.
The fifth avenue store is now going to be my must-go!
After seeing, Monika Chiang‘s SS13 earlier in the day, I was really excited when we passed by her store that we had to pop in.
Behold!
Not only was Monika on-hand, but we also ran into Lancome‘s main beauty guru, Darais. It was such a pleasure to see him again after being backstage at Monika’s show.
Oh, and lest we not forget, he was kind enough to do touch-ups for Susan and I.
*yay!*
Okslen, Osklen, Osklen.
I like saying that name.
Did you know they have an entire sustainable development program running as part of their business model?
We didn’t until Fashion’s Night Out, and while we loved them before, we love them more now knowing that!
Not to mention the caipirinha or two we had along the way
Karen Millen, how I love thee!
Oh yesss, it was refreshing and invigorating to be back there.
We ran into our favourite person from Karen Millen, Dominque!
Were we happy girls? Yes!
How was your Fashion’s Night Out?
Score any amazing deals? Freebies? Meet anyone snazzy and full of amazeballs?
Do tell!
Happy Fashion
Week New York!
