Carlos Miele is my favourite fashion designer on the planet.
As someone who can be accused of being in love with all things Brazilian and Italian it pretty much falls in line with my lust for life and love of culture. If not the music, it’s the food, if not the food, it’s the people. So it’s always such a pleasure for me to view the inner workings of Miele’s mind.
Miele’s SS13 collection was a step into a hallucinatory jungle. In his made up world of giraffe prints in phosphate blue, tiger skins in oxidized yellows and silver metal embellishments the collection took on soft, yet strong form.
I chatted backstage with Redken’s Rodney Cutler, who told me that unlike past seasons where soft curls and messy hair was a must, this season, because of the sheer magnitude of the clothing, he went for a softer, sleeker look keeping in that romantic style that Miele is known for.
I also chatted with Gato of Maybelline about the look he created for Miele: soft cheeks, highlighted and smooth with a tarnished silver mousse shadow all to frame a bright red lip. The red lip being Maybelline’s best selling signature “Revival Red.”
Full review, interviews and professional images to come!
