Part festival, part fête, part conference, part cocktail party – the Manhattan Cocktail Classic is an annual celebration of the myriad points of intersection between cocktails and culture.
Across five days and the four boroughs, the Manhattan Cocktail Classic (May 17-21) offered industry pros and enthusiasts alike a vast array of unique experiences (*ahem* Gentleman’s Cocktail Crawl with The Italian) and events (shout out to the fab John Henry from Liquor.com for his stellar presentation on marketing up-and-coming spirits brands!)
The Huffington Post definitely said it best,
“Like a plague of locusts or an army of Huns, the cocktailian hordes descended on New York City on May 11 — bar owners, mixologists, distillers, publicists, writers, and plain old fans of a boozy good time — for the fourth annual Manhattan Cocktail Classic. Four nights later, a city rested its collective throbbing head, bloated stomach and overworked liver, as we attempted to recover from one hell of a good time.” – source
Double Cross might be the best vodka discovery since having it straight up on ice with lemon and soda water!
Of course no festival is every complete without a little Perrier!
Ever so often I like to pretend I’m a swanky, contemporary, female version of Don Draper (you know minus all the drugs, adultery and stuff).
So when I was able to team up with Bonobos to go on a candy mountain adventure called the Gentleman’s Cocktail Crawl, I was a very happy girl.
Together with The Italian, I set out on 5-hours of mixology, maraschino cherries and Mad Men-inspired goodness.
Known for their range of subtle and bold styles (something for everyone) and irreverent, fun brand spirit, getting involved with the black-tie optional crawl was a no brainer for Bonobos, who sponsored the Classic’s signature event:
Completely a pub crawl for the gentry — one never should pass up the opportunity to slink on a dress, slip into a pair of stilettos and pull out the Pro Longwear lipstick.
Unlike a bar crawl where you’re expected up end up on all fours by the end, the Gentleman’s Cocktail Crawl maintained an upright (mostly), tuxedoed position by gliding one across a few of the esteemed establishments on the island of Manhattan:
- The Living Room at the W Downtown
- The Libertine at the Thompson Hotel – Gild Hall
- Marble Lane Lounge at the Dream Downtown
- Ava Lounge and The Bar at the Dream Midtown
- Bar Seven Five at the Andaz Wall Street
- Forty Four at the Royalton
- The National Bar at the Benjamin
- Millesime at the Carlton
- Toro Lounge at The Smyth Tribeca
- The Library Bar at The Hudson Hotel
- The Breslin Lobby Bar at Ace Hotel
- The Carnegie Club
- The Empire Room
