For the past few months I’ve been adjusting to life in a new city.

Anyone who has made a change from a city they consider home to a city that is virtually the opposite of home will understand the transition is tougher than anyone might have warned you about.

Prior to the big move, friends who had made similar transitions tossed bouquets of advice my way.

Skittles: Taste the Colour of a PR Crisis

For the past few weeks I’ve been watching an atypical type of public relations crisis unravel — that of Skittles.

Skittles, you know, the taste the rainbow, fruity, sugary hard candy you chomped on endlessly until you hit university and gained the Freshmen 15.

Yes, that Skittles.

Why, you say?

Because of Trayvon Martin: the 17-year old teen who was carrying only a packet of Skittles and a drink when he was shot and killed on February 26, 2012 in Sanford, Florida by George Zimmerman.

Social Hosting: An Airbnb Experience

Last weekend I test-drove one of the most talked-about travel accommodation websites out there: Airbnb.

I’m very pleased to report that

  • my first guests were not axe-yielding psychos
  • the house stands totally undamaged and as lovely as ever
  • my small furry one, Watson the dog, loved them and was loved back
