Backstage at New York Fashion Week FW12: Style at Anna Sui

Technicolor cat-eyes are in!

At least they were at Anna Sui’s Fall/Winter 2012 show at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week.

Pat McGrath dolled up the models in an azure blend backstage.

She used CoverGirl Liquiline Blast Eyeliner in Blue Boom and the Eye Enhancers 1-Kit Shadow in Indigo Impact.

McGrath wanted a true Bohemian 1960s feel to her work.

By tracing the inner rims of the eye with a white pencil to open up the eye, followed by a few coats of CoverGirl LashPerfection, she was able to do just that.

To finish the look off, McGrath placed hand-coloured, hand-cut circular stickers on the lower lash line.

“It adds a little extra interest,” she said to of the small detail, which was lined up exactly with models’ pupils.

The nails for the look were courtesy of Anna Sui’s own line of polishes in lacquer #103.

For the hair, keeping with the same sixties aura, Garren created a semi-deep side part (which we’ve seen at Marc Jacobs, Diane von Furstenberg and a few others across this season’s shows), sculpted into a low ponytail that was teased at the crown.

Adele would be proud!
