Nothing says “feminine power” quite like Reem Acra’s Autumn/Winter 2012 collection shown at New York’s Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week.
If James Bond was a woman, she’d probably look like this.
Between the black leather and lace, embellishments, metallic tweet, pointy stilettos and high collars we were in awe when we saw this live.
Acra is our favourite wedding dress designer and we’ve always told ourselves that the day we get married, we’re going to Acra to have her make us look like her Wedding Barbie doll.
However, upon closer inspection (or rather upon sitting in on viewing this collection at the tents), we rather wish Acra was our personal stylist for every and all things.
This was our favourite collection of Fashion Week.
“Feminine power,” indeed, as that was the phrase that Acra said backstage where she explained that she wanted to create a sense of power through strong, second-skin silhouettes.
… and create she did.
We found the trompe-l’Å“il effect to be delightful and the pieces with major peakaboo cutouts that slashed across the body in zigzags were simply delicious.
Besides as one of our straight-male friends who also saw Acra said,
“this is how women should dress.”
