Entitled ‘Rendezvous,’ Diane von Furstenberg explained backstage that her Autumn/Winter Collection for 2012 is,
“about loving to be a woman. It’s about seduction. It is bold. It is daring. It is strong, but it has humor. It’s all about liking your body, and at the same time with big coats, so it’s the yin and the yang.”
Thus, the result was a collection full of subtle sultriness, pencil skirts, DvF’s signature jersey dresses cut to hug the body, wrap jackets and a variety of plunging necklines.
There was also quite a bit of colour blocking gracing her runway: a aqua, cherry and black number in particular, which we loved, followed closely to our hearts by a lime and bordeaux ensemble.
As with all good designers, DvF knows what her customer likes and in each collection she makes it obvious that she remembers them.
As her program notes elaborated the collection is about being,
“Glamorous at a moment’s notice.”
This is something her design partner, Yvan Mispelaere and his “beautiful palette,” could attest to.
