Styling Sessions of a Fashionista: Karen Millen and ME

A few weeks ago, I had the absolute pleasure of being invited to channel my Anna Wintour and style two models in the SS11 collection from British label Karen Millen.

Mixed in with a vintage piece or two check out the results below:

  • Look One

This look was inspired by the Karen Millen philosophy that any girl can take their clothing from day to night with the simple use of accessories.

I, personally, try to do this myself with the clothing I purchase.

It’s about taking a dress and adding a blazer and perhaps a belt for daytime.

Then, taking that blazer off, adding some more eye shadow to your eyelids, a bright lipstick on your lips, and adding a piece of jewelry to take the same outfit to nighttime.

For this look, I really wanted to utilize the Karen Millen matching green, snake-skinned print stilettos and belt.

I thought that a great compliment to this look would be a vintage Karen Millen lemon leather jacket, as it seemed very urban-chic.

But the kicker and the real star to this outfit?

It’s not the zebra print clutch.

In fact, it’s actually the 30th Anniversary Special Edition Karen Millen Leather Metallic Dress.

The dress is chic, sexy and a great piece to take from day to night!

So here’s the thing:

It’s a Little Black Dress.

You know that ‘dress’ that Coco Chanel fashioned a style and demand for.

Every girl should own one.

It’s one of those uber fantasy pieces 😉

  • Look Two

I told the photographer and the model, this was supposed to be dark sexy.

Don’t ask me what that means in one sentence, but I described it as:

A tribute to New York.

This girl walks into a really nice, trendy and exclusive Manhattan lounge.

It’s probably one of those ‘underground’ places that has a list.

She walks in with this radiant coat, these stunning stiletto booties, urban-hipster clutch and delicious plum top.

She probably is there by herself and sits at the bar.

She orders a dirty martini, shaken not stirred, and thinks to herself — this is what James Bondette would do!

There you go.

That  radiant coat is something out of a fantasy as it’s their, Glamorous Pony Coat, only available through the UK website.

The bag is actually part of Karen Millen’s 30th Anniversary Limited Edition set of accessories.

It’s the Pony and Stud bag which perfectly matches the Multi-Buckle Bootie.

The top is something I fell madly in love with the moment I saw it.

It’s their Limited Edition Hard Frilled top and if you’re feeling generous and want to get me something for Christmas, it could be that! It’s just this gorgeous silk and satin halter top with paneling and hard frills around the neckline with a zipper down the middle.

Thanks Karen Millen!

I had a wonderful time and really appreciated the opportunity 🙂
