Spruce up your holidays, special occasion or Harry-Potter-Meets-Gryffindor-Princess day with a DIY golden, glitterlicious manicure from Butter London!
I like to call this manicure a few different things — Gryffindor Princess, Gryffindor Gold or Holiday Princess… but at the end of the day it’s this vibrant burst of yellow diamonds in the light gracing your fingers.
I love these polishes.
You can check out one of my tweets, here.
For this manicure (and pedicure, yes, I match), I used:
- Nail Foundation Flawless Basecoat
“Make up for your nails. This silk-finish, stain resistant, non-toxic basecoat provides the perfect foundation. Matte results so beautiful, you can wear it alone.”
- West End Wonderland
“Be one of the Glitteratti in classic gold glitter varnish. It’s Anabel’s, the Groucho, and The Electric all rolled into one.”
- The Full Monty
“Does what it says on the bottle. Full-on molten gold. A beautiful colour that is always classy, never brassy.”
- Hardwear P.D. Quick Topcoat
“Lock your lacquer. Our quick dry, ultra glossy, non-toxic topcoat protects your lacquer, extending the life of your manicure.”
One of the things I’ve absolutely been in love with Butter London for is the quality of their nail polish:
- It does not stink
- It dries rather quickly
- Is extremely pigmented without the lacquer being thick in consistency
- Glides on smoothly
- Doesn’t clump in the brush
Nail Foundation – one coat
Nail Foundation – touch up after the first coat, but not quite two coats
The Full Monty – one coat
The Full Monty – two coats
West End Wonderland – one coat
And what does it look like “on?”
Just like this:-
I wore the nail polish for my birthday this year
And check out these photos from my mobile phone that I tweeted from my night out at the W South Beach with @AshleyEllene:
As you can see, the nail polish sparkles and had a subtle, classy ‘POP!’ to it.
It’s not overwhelming, but not invisible either.
The combination of West End Wonderland and The Full Monty is flawless!
If sparkles is your thing, but gold isn’t, then make sure to check out my other review on the Butter London Holiday 2011 collection of Tart with a Heart, Black Knight and Fairy Lights!

I love your nail photos! Great quality. I blogged a nail polish entry earlier this week and used the term “Glitterati” also, lol! Great minds think alike
