Dear @DKNY PR Girl (and the rest of the Donna Karan New York Communications Team,)
A fashionista like none other you are, inspirational to many and accessible to few – please, hire me.
I know we’ve never “met,” but we tweet.
As requested, I sent in my resume, cover letter and I posted a response on Facebook as to why I should get the position as your assistant public relations/social media fashionista-geekette.
But I wanted to take the time to go a little further and tell you why I think you should really hire me.
Not only would I be honored to work for you, but I think I would be an excellent asset to the Donna Karan New York communications team.
Sure, I can be a little cuckoo sometimes, but who isn’t? I like my skim latte made at 130-degrees Fahrenheit from Starbucks as much as the next girl. But I also like it as much as I like colour-coding my organizer, and yes, I did just spell colour with a “u” on purpose. I guess that’s just part of who I am.
I can be a little OCD about the pink obsession, but eh, whatever, it worked for Elle Woods. Elle got into Harvard and pink will always be in fashion to me. Right now, it’s in fashion to be a community manager and social media go-to-gal, so everyone is on the techy-wagon. But you know what will never go out of style? People who have a good skills set, who worked hard for what they have, educated themselves to the best of their ability and tried to stay on top of their game, because they wanted to.
That’s me.
I’m a self-starter, I’m ambitious, driven and I think I am a very positive person. But I don’t want to bore you with the details that are already on my LinkedIN, Twitter, Facebook (and Facebook again) and the resume I sent you.
Rather, if there is anything I can tell you, it’s something I learned over the course of the past year and half. Creating my own Little Pink Blog brand and moving to New York City on my own has truly taught me one specific thing — or rather showed me — about about work, love and life in general: that you should believe in yourself and never give up.
Nope.
No matter what.
Just keep trucking along. Or like Dorie says in Finding Nemo, “Just keep swimming, swimming, swimming…”
Some people say it, but they don’t believe it and others say it while they are living on Cloud 9.
But I really, believe in what Paulo Coelho said in my favourite novel, The Alchemist:
“When you want something, all the universe conspires in helping you to achieve it.

So even if I don’t make it to the interview process, I’ll know I gave you my ‘everything.’
I’m a firm believer that if life throws you limes, make a caipirinha that sparkles or a glittering margarita. Sometimes, I think that as people, we forget that we can make our own opportunities and even make those opportunities on our terms.
Sometimes we need our friends, family and those close to us to remind us — but that’s what is important, isn’t it? Knowing who you are, where you come from and what you truly want?
Not everyone figures it out and I don’t claim to have all the wisdom of the world, but I do know that I want the opportunity to work with you.
I’m going to try to make my own opportunity and show you that since you looking for a social media savvy, public relations right (or left)-handista — that you should pick me!
Sincerely,
Sasha
P.S.,
If you’re DKNY PR Girl and you’re reading this and not using your Twitter avatar with the little DKNY girl on the beach, sitting on a lounge chair with her iPad, can I have it? She’s pretty!
P.P.S.,
If you’re not DKNY PR Girl and reading this post, if you like what I have to say, and think I would be a great person to interview for this position and potentially get hired, please go and “Like” the DKNY Facebook page. Then “Like” my why post here, so you can show your support of me to the hiring managers and DKNY PR Girl, herself!

Love it! This job was made for you and I really hope you get it! Go Sasha!
@DKNY:twitter my girl @sashahalima:twitter is made for this position. I hope you check her out!
Sasha – you have my support. Your approach is admirable and I hope DKNY PR Girl recognizes that. I wish you the best of luck.Â
I think you would be a good candidate for this position which is why I want to help you out before someone for DKNY reads this (which, hopefully they will!)Â
When you end your sentence with the pink bold italicized phrase “because they wanted too” it should be spelled “to.” And also, in your “PS” you made a typo and wrote “DNKY.”
Just wanted to let you know and try to help! Good luck!Â
