“The one with the power to vanquish the Dark Lord approaches … born to those who have thrice defied him, born as the seventh month dies … and the Dark Lord will mark him as his equal, but he will have power the Dark Lord knows not … and either must die at the hand of the other for neither can live while the other survives … the one with the power to vanquish the Dark Lord will be born as the seventh month dies …”
- Sybill Trelawney prophesying to Albus Dumbledore (Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix)
The prophecy that was overheard by Severus Snape set into motion a series of events that connected Lord Voldemort and Harry Potter altering their lives forever.
Lord Voldemort sought out to stop the prophecy instead brought it to life, giving Harry a lightning scar and himself becoming mangled.
Destiny is best described both sharing striking similarities: half-bloods, orphaned, and viewed Hogwarts as their first real home.
But it is the differences that ultimately mattered with Voldemort caring about no one but himself and Harry holding a love of others.
The final drink Mixology post is dedicated to the Dark Lord and the Boy Who Lived!
The Lord Voldemort
Lord Voldemort was known as the most powerful wizard of all time.
A half-blood and the Heir of Slytherin, he was a talented student gaining the highest honors at Hogwarts.
While appearing handsome and polite he was really sadistic, manipulative, and sociopathic quickly gaining followers inside and outside of Hogwarts.
His greatest fear, death, quickly caused him to stretch his powers where no other wizard had gone before of even dared, while trying to make himself immortal he replaced his handsome appearance with a snake-like one.
Cruel, self-obsessed and power-hungry, Voldemort was incapable of feeling love and compassion for others, taking pleasure in the suffering of others.
His downfall was of his own creating, arrogant he overlooked things as powerful as mortality and love making Harry a stronger being.
A jalapeno shooter is fitting for this dark psychopath.
- 1 oz Tequila
- 1/3 oz Tabasco sauce
- 1 jalapeno pepper
- Muddle jalapeno pepper and Tabasco sauce.
- Strain into shot glass.
- Add tequila.
- Garnish with thin slice of jalapeno.
The most evil of objects, most books do not dare to describe this powerful dark object.
With its creation, a Horcrux can help its owner obtain immortality by preserving a part of their soul in case their body is ever destroyed.
Making one involves a horrible act, murder, then incasing the fragmented soul into an object for safe keeping.
A process so gruesome, only one wizard has ever dared create more than one Horcrux, that wizard being Lord Voldemort.
A soul-splitting seven ingredient drink is best for this dark magical object.
- ¾ oz Tequila
- ¾ oz Vodka
- ¾ oz Triple Sec
- ¾ oz Gin
- ¾ oz light Rum
- 1 oz Sour Mix
- Splash Coke
- Garnish licorice stick
- Combine liquors into glass with sour mix.
- Top with Coke.
- Garnish with licorice stick.
The Harry Potter
Known as the ‘Boy Who Lived’ or ‘the Chosen One’, Harry was one of the most famous wizards of modern times being the only known survivor of the Killing Curse.
Harry looked tremendously like his father but had his mother’s eyes, a lightning bolt scar on his forehead marked where he was curse by Voldemort due to his mother’s sacrifice/protection.
Despite his poor childhood at the hands of his Aunt and Uncle, Harry excelled at Hogwarts becoming the youngest Gryffindor Seeker in a century, winning the Triwizard Tournament, and becoming captain of the Gryffindor House Quidditch Team.
A loyal friend to Hermione and Ron, his selflessness and bravery lead to take great risks and go to great lengths to help others, highlighted by the Sorcerer’s Stone, Chamber of Secrets, formation of Dumbledore’s Army, the Department of Mysteries and many other acts.
His love of others lead him to make the ultimate sacrifice to insure their protection, he submitted himself to the Killing Curse for a second time.
His greatest strength the ability to love saved him in the end becoming the Master of Death and the holder of all the Deathly Hallows, he used it not for gain but to protect those he loved.
A sweet but strong brandy drink is perfect for this selfless hero.
- ½ oz Brandy
- ½ oz Kahlua
- ¼ oz Butterscotch Schnapps
- ½ oz Half and Half Cream
- Garnish wafer stick
- Fill martini glass with cold water and place in freezer for 2 minutes to chill.
- Combine ingredients into shaker.

The Golden Snitch
The fourth and smallest ball in the wizarding game Quidditch, it is a small gold-colored sphere with wings and is about the size of a walnut.
The Golden Snitch is flies around the Quidditch pitch while the team’s Seeker searches for it, the game only ending once it is caught.
The Snitch has flesh memories and the person who catches it gives their team one-hundred and fifty points.
A glittery Goldschlager drink is appropriate for this tiny gold ball.
- 1 oz Bailey’s Irish Cream
- 1 oz Goldschlager
- Combine in shot glass.
