Being a beauty queen is a lot of work, and spending uncountable hours backstage at pageants, and this week at Miss America 2011, I often wonder how these girls get “pageant perfect.”

Some of the best tips and secrets I’ve picked up over the years can help you get fabulous skin (in your own home).

  • Routines

Make a regime and stick to it, analyze your skin every few months to ensure that you are getting the results you desire, and to adjust for seasonal climate changes.

  • Pimples!

I’m not going to tell you not to do your own extraction, because we all do it.

Immediately after you perform your surgery, apply Neosporin, or another triple anti-biotic cream.

This helps to kill the bacteria, and keep your skin from having bad acne scars in the future.

  • Here’s Looking AT You, Beautiful!

One of the first parts of the body to show illness and lack of sleep is the eyes.

If you are running a hectic schedule and don’t have the time to kick back with cucumber slices.

Slice them a bit thinner and they will stick to your eyes as you multi-task.

  • Essentials, Extras & a whole lot of Colour!

Keep a makeup kit in your purse.

I know it is one more thing to lug around, but a quick mini-makeover with a fresh coat of mascara and lipstick will do wonders for your face and your attitude.

This kit should have at the very least: nail file, mascara, makeup remover wipes, lipstick, blush, comb, hair brush, and lip gloss.

  • Exfoliate & Moisturize

It is very important to exfoliate regularly and keep a good moisturizer on hand and a good lip balm for your lips.

  • Hydrate

Avoid coffee, energy drinks, and soda.

Drink water (add lime, lemon, and orange slices for flavor) and hydrate the body from within.

My favorite beauty product has always be Cethaphil. It is a great cleanser that isn't harsh and leaves skin very smooth. Been using for years!

  2. I love LUSH's Skin Drink moisturizer…natural and perfect for extra thirsty skin. The best part? Each container comes with a sticker with the name of the person who bottled the moisturizer up! http://www.lushusa.com/shop/pr

  3. My favorite beauty product has to be mascara is general! I love testing out new mascaras and finding the perfect one. I'm using Falsies by Maybelline right now and it really makes my eyes pop!

  6. Who knew? Neosporin!?

I would not be able to walk out of the house without YSL's Touche Eclat… it covers dark circles perfectly.

  7. Lovely Jubblies by Lush –a relatively new discovery– is now a regular part of my post shower ritual. Its heavenly smell easily takes the place of perfume and because they're a vegan cosmetic line, I don't have to stress over the ethical quandaries. Highly recommend! http://bit.ly/gfUS1O

  8. My favorite beauty product is definitely DiorShow Blackout Mascara which I coincidentally discovered after reading an entry on Little Pink Book a couple years ago. It's the one makeup item that, after I put it on, I instantly look more polished and ready to take on the day (or night).

  9. My favorite beauty product has always be Mascara! It doesn't matter if you have anything else on, but a dash of mascara will change the look of your face- and make your go from every day looking to instant wow. MY favorite is Lancome!

  10. My favorite item is my mascara. It always just give my eyes the extra “umph” and “vavaboom”. Which I love.

  11. My favorite beauty product is my Clinique Dramatically Different Facial Moisturizer – it's the only moisturizer that has consistently worked for me!

I love MAC's Studio Finish Concealer…matches my skin perfectly, covering any dark circles after a hectic week! And….SPF 35 =)

  13. I love Benefit's Hello Flawless foundation powder. It's the exact shade of my skin and it really makes for a flawless base. 🙂

  14. WOW Neosporin….who would of thought my favorite would be bare essentials mascara!!

  15. Great article! My fave beauty item is Bare Minerals Mascara. It makes my eyes stand out when I'm in a hurry.

  16. My favorite beauty product is nude under eye liner. Pixi has a great one called Eye Bright Liner and it literally wakes you up instantly. I don't leave the house without it! It takes the redness down and makes the whites look white, making you look more awake, even on little sleep the night before (and we've all had those mornings;)!)

  17. My favorite beauty product is MAC powder eyeliner in Blackberry- my eyes are always reflective of the lack of sleep I get; so this opens my eyes a little so I look more awake, and doesn't smudge as much as their charcoal pencil that I also really like. And I guess my other one is eye make-up remover; I love Lancome Bi-Facil. Sensitive skin-friendly, and takes off waterproof mascara with ease:)
