“On the outside I look fragile,
but on the inside is something you can’t crush.”
The song is called “Country Strong†and it’s the title track to an upcoming 2011 film starring Gwyneth Paltrow, Tim McGraw, Leighton Meester and Garrett Hedlund.
Country Strong, the film, is about a rising young country singer named Beau Hutton (Hedlund), who gets involved with fallen country music superstar Kelly Canter (Paltrow.) They embark on a national tour to resurrect her career, under the direction of her husband – and manager – Ed Canter (McGraw). Along for the ‘ride’ is also Chiles Stanton (Meester), a beauty queen-turned-singer.
The film is supposed to be about all the complicated matters of life and romantic brouhahas that stem when old habits and demons can’t die.
“I know my heart will never be the same.
But I’m telling myself I’ll be okay, even on my weakest day.
I get a little bit stronger.”
The soundtrack also contains another song that I’m obsessing over by Sara Evans called, “A Little Bit Stronger.â€
Both “Country Strong†and “A Little Bit Stronger†are inspirational, mid-tempo country ballads sung against a steel guitar, good percussion and everything else that makes a country song – a country song.
In each song, the female narrator describe coping with pain and being able to pick up the pieces after the stumbles and falls of their lives have taken place – either in life or love or both.
They are about perseverance, strength and optimism, even through your weakest moments.
Me = love.
And btw, this is a performance of Gwyneth and country legend Vince Gill at the 2010 CMA Awards
