It’s official. New York Fashion Week is underway.
The luxe vintage handbags, mile-high wedges and constant flashbulbs emitted from paparazzi is enough to make any fashion connoisseur’s head spin.
And who better to kick of the trendiest most anticipated party—the iconic Karl Lagerfeld of course.
The first big event of New York Fashion Week took place on Thursday, September 9th, bringing together the legendary Lagerfeld and his countless celebrity admirers.
Mingling within Wooster Street’s fresh new Chanel boutique were some of the biggest names in the industry. Influential editors and Hollywood-superpowers marveled at the store’s redesign, executed by architect Peter Marino.
German beauty, Diane Kruger and supermodels Chanel Iman and Erin Wasson were among the fashion-forward attendees, as well as Vogue’s Grace Coddington, Blake Lively, Rachel Bilson, Liv Tyler, and the ever so trendy Rachel Zoe.
The fashion-conscious ensembles worn by these high-profile guests were the icing on this super stylish cake.
Kruger posed in corseted flirty ruffles.
Chanel Iman paid homage to her namesake and her never ending legs in this enticing metallic mini.
Liv Tyler kept her look chic, yet effortless.
As the always-chic Sarah Jessica-Parker made her way through the festivities she reflected on her fondness for Lagerfeld and Chanel as a whole.
In a recent post from The Daily Beast, SJP stated that she fell in love with Chanel first as a consumer when she was “a very young personâ€.
This adoration clearly continued to build over the years since she went on to praise the designer, “he’s somebody you could study forever. He’s endlessly interesting, complicated, smart, inspired…then I got the chance to meet him and know him and he’s completely lovelyâ€.
Not all may have been as comfortable as the Sex and the City star. To some Lagerfeld’s presence and sheer proximity were intimidating.
Canadian model, Shalom Harlow, confessed to The Daily Beast about her first introduction to the fashion legend, “it was like meeting the Queen of Englandâ€.
Amongst cocktails, chatting and endless Chanel frocks, fashion fans were able to get their first style fix– one they will be feeding continuously over the next few days.
Surrounded by a beautiful entourage, to say the least, Lagerfeld kicked off what is sure to be quite a week full of glitz, glamour and eternal stilettos.
