It’s a Mean Girl’s dream — a MAC Cosmetics and Walt Disney Company makeup mashup, “Venomous Villains.”

Four of Disney’s most infamous villains will be showcased in the September 30, 2010 launch of this new line featuring the Evil Queen from “Snow White,” Maleficient from “Sleeping Beauty,” Dr. Facilier from “The Princess and the Frog” and, the ultimate villain fashionista, Cruella de Ville from “101 Dalmatians.”

The entire collection will contain 40 hues ranging from $12.00 USD to $29.50 USD.

According to an interview with Women’s Wear Daily, MAC vice-president of product development, Jennifer Balbier, said, “Disney gave us the colors used when these characters were drawn throughout their history.”

She noted that Cruella de Ville and the Evil Queen share more “real woman” shades (red lips and peachy blushes,) whereas, Maleficent is “pure fantasy.”

Balibier made a point to mention that there will be purples, blackened shades and pearlized nails for the look. While, Dr. Facilier is the headliner for the new Magically Cool Liquid Powders.

“This is a featherlight powder that goes on like a mist and either sets or enhances foundation, but also lends dimensionality on naked skin,” Balbier said.

Some PR/Marketing Thoughts

It sounds pretty cool to me and I’m really excited to see how this collection pans out. Be sure to check back to Pink Book come September because I’ll definitely be putting some of these in {Beautirati}.

But I have to say, that while I’m very excited about this collection, I’m a little disappointed that MAC didn’t do a Disney Princess collection, prior to this.

As of 2005, it’s actually their biggest money-maker…ever. So it would make sense to capitalize on something that is already highly successful and continuously profitable.

That and I don’t really see Dr. Facilier as the type of villain to grace the cover of a powder compact. If I had to choose I would have gone with another female perhaps like Ursula from “The Little Mermaid.”

Then again, if Disney was going for diversity and a male figure — I think Jafar from “Aladdin” would have been a stronger choice for the ample amount of available colour and looks.

Dr. Faciliar seems to be too close to the Evil Queen and Maleficient in terms of hues. Jafar would have added some contrast with deep crimsons, muted browns, lush hard peach tones and lots and lot of black mascara and eye kohl.

Venomous Villains? It’ll be interesting…
