{iStyle} Tips and Tricks for PERFECT Sex and the City Hair [Giveaway]

By: Sherri Jessee, guest blogger

The ladies of Sex & the City are known for their unique, trendy and exclusive fashion sense. But with good clothes, shoes and makeup, must come good hair.

Each of these ladies had many wardrobe changes during the filming of the much anticipated Sex & the City 2, however, one theme remains the same: their hair reflects their individual personalities!

Having great hair can be our finest accessory:

Carrie…

Carrie’s has a cute, carefree attitude that is also evident in her hair.

If you would like to have that same happy-go-lucky texture in your hair, apply a nickel sized amount of a thickening creme to damp hair and distribute well through the lengths and ends. This will give the hair incredible texture. The next step is to diffuse dry the hair to emphasize the natural wave pattern and add curls where necessary with a 1 ¼” curling iron.

Use your fingers to create relaxed separation that you can really have fun with!

Samantha…

Samantha’s sleek style suits her svelte body and sassy personality.

For those feeling playful with their hair but want to look super sexy, apply a few drops of a smoothing to damp hair and distribute well. Blow-dry the hair.

Touch up any frizz with flat iron to create smooth, lustrous locks, dazzling with shine!

Charlotte…

Charlotte’s long layered hair echoes her classic style and role as doting mother and faithful friend.

This lovely look can be achieved by using a volumizing foam to create the long lasting body and control needed for this traditional, stylish shape. For a busy mom that desires added body and curls, simply pop in a few hot rollers, allow them to cool and then brush through.

Who doesn’t love a lady with body?

Miranda…

Miranda’s no-frills, traditional bob makes the most of her short fine hair and suits her attorney/working mom character to a tee.

To style Miranda’s hair, use a styling crème and dry beginning at the bottom, working in small sections, use a round brush to create the shape. Give it a little practice, ladies… once you ace the technique your great hair will be turning heads everywhere you go!

To hold the style, a nice misting of a touchable hairspray will take you from a day at the office to a night on the town.

  1. I honestly have always loved all the hairstyles on Sex and the City (although some have made me raise my eyebrow). Overall I am in love with Miranda's bob. Her hairstyle is traditional but versatile it can go from home to office to nightclub. I must say I am also jealous because I could never pull off a short hair style. My hair is naturally curly and would never look good short.

p.s. I am uber-excited to see this movie! I hope it doesn't disappoint.

  3. Charlotte says:

Miranda — always sleek and simple, but sophisticated.

  4. MIRANDA!!

  5. Carrie… mine is very straight and smooth and, well, boring. Hers is not.

  6. Sandy Reichm says:

    Charlotte–
I have always desired long, dark thick hair in which I could put layers and lots of big curls. However, my hair is thin not allowing for many layers. (I do play with hot rollers occasionally.)

Gotta love long dark hair with a few curls and body!

BUT I LOVE the way ALL hairstyles are made to look natural and easy, eventhough i KNOW they took hours!

  7. I adore Carrie's hair! I love how she can from sleek and straight to wild and pretty. Her hair in this movie was just plain gorgeous! It makes me wish for thick, long hair :)

  8. Francesca says:

I like Carrie's hair the most because her hair is more like mine than any of the other characters. My hair is just as wavy as Carrie's but I always feel like it looks too frizzy but onscreen Carrie's hair looks natural and way yet smooth. I also love when they put her hair up in the big chignons!

  9. Jane Serra says:

I love love LOVE Carrie's locks – curly or straight, her hair always looks fab. Though all the hair tips above sound great and worth a try!

    Gracias!
    Xo Jane

  10. Miranda's! Her color is obviously amazing (the best fake red I've ever seen and can never achieve) and oh how I wish my hair would lay like that. She wears the chic bob oh so well!

  11. I love Carrie's curls. Mine are a bit more unruly and I tend to brush them out. Maybe the right products will help me achieve her happy-go-lucky texture and curls!

  12. Samantha!! But that's the blonde publicist in me :)

  13. I would love love Carrie's soft, care-free curls with Miranda's vibrant color! My hair has a mind of its own. Some days it's super curly and other days it's half curly half straight, or just plain frizzy ( I live in the thick humidity of Texas). I'm gradually getting better and better at styling my hair, so hopefully with the right products and techniques I too can Carrie away!
