( because I need to get this out of my system and off my chest 🙁 )
If you’ve been hearing about the Pat Robertson stuff associated with Haiti, here you go, I got it from the Assoicated Press & the LA Times:-
Wednesday, January 13, 2010, 24-hours after the only third-world country in the Western Hemisphere, Haiti, was hit by a massive 7.0 magnitude earthquake, Pat Robertson blamed the island nation for the quake because he said the Haitians “swore a pact to the Devil” in the past.
“Something happened a long time ago in Haiti, and people might not want to talk about it. They were under the heel of the French. You know, Napoleon III, or whatever. And they got together and swore a pact to the Devil. They said, we will serve you if you’ll get us free from the French. True story. And so, the Devil said, okay it’s a deal.”
The LA Times is reporting that Robertson IS donating to Haiti and above you’ll see that Operation Blessings International is one of the organizations on CNN’s list:-
Spokesman Chris Roslan says Robertson never stated that Tuesday’s earthquake was God’s wrath. He says Robertson’s Operation Blessing group is sending millions of dollars in medication and relief workers to the country.
My only opinion on this is: ignorance is one hell of a drug. Move over Kanye West, you have officially been de-throned as King of the Jerks by Pat Robertson. Keith Olbermann basically sums up my feelings on the matter towards Rush Limbaugh and Pat Robertson for their “sick comments”:-
“Even the worst of us in this political mosh pit of the early 21st century can stop on occasion in grief and human sympathy and mourning, or just in self-preservation…”
…”Mr. Robertson, Mr. Limbaugh, your lives are not worth those of the lowest, meanest, poorest of those victims still lying under that rubble in Haiti tonight. You serve no good, you serve no God. You inspire only stupidity and hatred, and I would wish you to hell. But knowing how empty your souls must be for you to be able to say such things in a time of such pain, I suspect the vacant, purposeless lives you both live now are hell enough already.” — Keith Olbermann
- I wonder Robertson’s fellow Evangelical Christians are thinking?
- Do they or do they not agree?
- What do you think?
On that note, as I find resources that are trust-worthy, I’ll update for you. If you have any info you think would be relevant put it in the comments and I’ll add it.
