{Tickled Pink} Cara Mia Michaels, Goodbye #sytycd

Lauren & Danny, S3, SYTYCD, to Mia Michaels

In case you missed it (like I did, I’ve been tuning in ever so often this season waiting for her to appear) Michael Michaels, contemporary choreographer extraordinaire,  left So You Think You Can Dance. Now, I’m not going to lie, I’ve stopped religiously watching So You Think You Can Dance for about a year now because I feel like it’s not up to  par with previous seasons.

For those of you who do not know, I wasn’t just a public relations major at the University of Florida; I have my degree in Dance as well. It’s not on my typical bio at the end of my posts because it’s not very relevant to the Little Pink Book…maybe I should change that?

I think it’s about time {Tickled Pink} returned to the Little Pink Book, don’t you?

I mention this because I love the art of dance and I’m a full believer in what, one of my inspirations, Isadora Duncan, said:-

“The Dance – it is the rhythm of all that dies in order to live again; it is the eternal rising of the sun.”

In light of that, and a mild tribute to the art that is Mia Michaels (a fellow South Floridian :) ) some of the dance:-

From Mia Michaels

“I’m all about my vision. The dancers are my tools, they’re my instruments and they’ve got to surrender to my vision — and sometimes it’s very uncomfortable because it’s very vulnerable, it’s very personal and it’s just a very human place that a lot of people tend to not like to expose.”

This is Danny Tidwell and Lauren Gottlieb from Season 3 (the best So You Think You Can Dance season in my opinion) to Celine Dion’s “Then You Look at Me” which is by far my no.1 favourite of all the routines the show has ever produced. The execution is brilliant and on target, I absolutely love the use of the floor space, the moves are immaculate as always and most of all the costumes do not get in the way or detract from the movements.

My other favourite — Neil Haskell and Lacey Schwimmer to “Time” by Billy Porter

Travis Wall and Heidi Groskreutz to Celine Dion’s “Calling You” (the second best from the show in my opinion — this one won Mia an Emmy award by the way, “The Bench”)

Sabra Johnson, Danny Tidwell, Lacey Schwimmer, Neil Haskell, Lauren Gottlieb, Pasha Kovalev, Sara Von Gillern, Dominic ‘D-Trix’ Sandoval, Jaimie Goodwin and Kameron Bink from Season 3  to Imogen Heap’s “The Moment I Said It”

Mark Kanemura and Chelsie Hightower in “Beautiful” by Meshell Ndegeocello

Katee Shean and Stephen “Twitch” Boss to “Mercy”

Katee Shean and Joshua Allen to “Hometown Glory”

More So You Think You Can Dance

“Bleeding Love” by Napoleon and Tabitha D’umo. Performed by Mark Kanemura and Chelsie Hightower

Lauren Gottlieb and Pasha Kovalev to “Fuego” by Pitbull to moves by Shane Sparks.

Neil Haskell and Sabra Johnson to “Sweet Dreams” (aka the “Table Dance”) by Mandy Moore (not the singer).

***Thanks to @SSmirnov for tweeting about Mia! She was the motivation behind the post! ***
