Best of Little Pink Book 2009 with Top 10 to Follow in 2010

I started blogging on April 13, 2009 and I can’t tell you how grateful I am to all of the readers who continue to subscribe, tweet and interact with me daily concerning, my baby, my Little Pink Book.

When I started back in the Spring, I never imagined that in my first full month blogging (May 2009), I would reach 6,000 unique visitors that month.  Nor did I ever conceive, a few months later, that an average of 13,000 of you graciously amazing folks would come back for more, month after month on average to read about public relations, social media, fashion and some of my random rantings as a Gen-Y.

Believe me when I say, I am truly humbled and thankful to each and every one of you.

So without further ado — I give you the

Top 10 Folks to

Follow in 2010

w/ some thanks πŸ™‚

Taking a note from a few others, as 2010 approaches, I wanted to share my suggestions for people to follow in the new year.

I’ll just say I’m fashionably late, since everyone else did their special mentions for Thanksgiving and Christmas… lol

My suggestions  are a snazzy group of folks who inhabit the social media, public relations, fashion and blog world!

ENJOY! πŸ™‚

Kasey
1. Kasey Skala – I met Kasey via Twitter’s #journchat many moons ago. He’s one of the most savvy financial public relations and social media people I know.  He runs the Electric Waffle, is witty, charming and genuine. Plus, he sends me pictures of snow which gives me glee! You are simply the best, yasak alaks, the best πŸ™‚

Danny
2.
Danny Brown -Danny was one of the first people that ever took the time to get to know me when I entered the online social media community back in March. He was actually the very first person to retweet one of my blog posts on Twitter. I like to think he’s the official highlander of awesomeness of Social Media Land, but that’s just me. Danny is engaging, intelligent and oozes with kindness. He also runs a non-profit called 12For12K. If I listed the reasons, this post would be way to long. But just know, from the first tweet, to blog posts, to the work — right back at you my friend, worth your weight in gold!

3. “Special Project” guys:

Mike
Mike Schaffer – Mike is the founder of the #SportsPRChat on Twitter. Outside of sports, he’s also very knowledgeable on public relations and has a very unique and humorous way of blending public relations with popular culture on his blog the PR Buzz. Mike is one of the most unbiased people that I know and will tell it like it is for what it is.   J-mum! πŸ™‚ I’m still holding out for our special project of supreme coolness!

DavidT

David TeicherDavid made up his own Greek God alter ego, Aerocles. If that isn’t enough to tell you how interesting and unique he is, David also runs a very on top of the times blog and is one of the most active people on Twitter for Public Relations and social media. And let’s not forget the fact that he’s supportive and thoughtful. David always seems to know what to say. Hades this year – so glad if I had to visit, you were there too! πŸ™‚ So umm, when is our special project happening?

Nicole

4. Nicole VanScoten – Nicole is the creator of PRetty Social, an avid animal lover and all around cool girl. She’s always on top of the times and has a very strong opinion. But where that combination can be lethal, Nicole is laid back, well-researched and true to herself.  If you had to share PRetty Social with anyone, I’m grateful it was me πŸ™‚

5-for-5

5. Five of Five of a Mentoring Kind:
Heather Huhman, Valerie Simon
, Carol Phillips – Have you ever seen a career woman who seemed to understand the world around her and wanted to share her understanding with others? Not only that, but was that woman knowledgeable, insightful, thoughtful and someone you not only respected but admired? If you don’t know any women like that, then I suggest you follow these three. If you do, add these three to your list anyway.  I have no words. The three of you are nothing but amazing, inspiring and supportive of anything and everything I’ve ever done since we met. From the writing, to the seeking, to the words of endless wisdom. Thank you πŸ™‚
Stephanie Smirnov & Kathy CascianiStephanie and Kathy are humble employees at DeVries PR in New York City, where they trek through each say as President and Vice-President respectively. Neither one of them tweet as much as I do, nor do they consistently full their Twitter with links to everything PR and social media around. However, they are two great women, with two equally fantastic senses of humor that ooze female intelligence and what it means to be a girl going for the gold!  Just so you know, when I grow up I want your jobs because … the two of you are nothing short of what I aspire to be in public relations; Mad Men, Harry Potter & all πŸ™‚

Bit-Rebels

6. Bit Rebels Trio:
Arnt Edvin Eriksen, Diana Adams & Richard Darell
– yes, yes, I know a lot of people write for the Bit Rebels blogzine on technology, social media, graphic design and web 2.0. But I’ve learned so much from these three because each one of them is a great conversationalist and exceedingly knowledgeable (if they can’t answer your question, they will point you in the right direction to someone who will). I cannot begin to tell you how helpful, nurturing and beneficial it has been to know these folks. The three of you rock and I can’t wait to endlessly muse with you in 2010!

Jennifer

7. Jennifer Ortiz it’s no secret that I know Jennifer from my college days at the University of Florida and she’s one of my closest friends. But that’s not the reason she’s on my list.  What I wanted to share with you is something that I’m proud to say I saw from the beginning and had a small hand in, Bits of Beauty. Back in April when I started the Little Pink Book, shortly thereafter, Jennifer started Bits of Beauty under the premise of bringing joy and something beautiful to people everyday. This is what she does. Jennifer, no matter what, or how different your opinion is from hers, tries to bring forth and see the beautiful in everyday life. She even started a series on it. By the way, she’s the Friday {iStyle} writer here at the Pink Book. Thank you. πŸ™‚

David

8. David Spinks – David is a fellow Gen-Y writer, the Community Manager over at Scribnia and the co-founder of #u30Pro chat on Twitter. He’s also intelligent, into everything and anything, not to mention that he’s also quite savvy… like Jack Sparrow!  Plus, he delivered me the good news about this:

it still makes my day πŸ™‚

9.  The Trendista, Fashionistas from the Empire State of Mind:

Monica
Monica Shulman (Ciao Chessa!)

Lisi

Lisi Metzger (The Beauty File)

Amy

& Amy Chandra (MidTown Girl) -  If it’s cool, if it’s artsy, if it’s awesome these girls are it. From fashion, to photography, to dating these girls say it like it is from their hearts. There are no blinding lights or extremes. What you see is what you get. They are the real deal. Period. One word: *huggles* πŸ™‚

10. There are too many people to thank, but the following folks have been there in my sphere, above and beyond:- Andrea Rizk, Stefan Pinto, Ellen Rossano, Abby Schoffman, Jamie Favreau, Sheema Siddiqi, “PR Cogaka according to me Coggie!, Roxanne Blanford , Sandy Archila , Erin McGillivray, Meghan Butler, Shannon Nelson, Lianne Farbes, Steffan Antonas, Eugen Schoen, Sarah Evans, Lindsay Thomas and Chris Illuminati.

An extra special mention to Darren Heitner (Sports Agent Blog), Keira Gillett (Review Romance) and Crosby Noricks (PR Couture) for helping me put together the Little Pink Book at the very beginning. Without your help, I don’t think the past eight months would have been so great.

Best of Luck for the New Year! πŸ™‚
Love,

Sasha xx.

Thank you Sasha! I consider myself fortunate to know the other 4 mentors in your #5 recommendation and am humbled to be included with such great company! One of my favorite terms of 2009 has been “reverse mentoring” and I hope you realize that you are one of the Gen Y leaders I have learned from this year πŸ™‚ Keep up the great work with your blog and hopefully we will get a chance to catch up IRL in 2010!
