{Beautirati Looks} Ooh Baby Amber my White Lights!

Haha, I like my title. Anyway, I digress before I even start – in my morning rush to get out of the house today, I accidentally picked up white eye shadow instead of the neutral beige I wanted.

You know those mornings where you don’t even realize what you’re doing because you have so many thoughts rummaging through your little brain? Yea, that was me today.

By the time it dawned on me, I was in the car, the sunlight hitting my face, my sunglasses at home and quite noticeably I realized what I did…white eye shadow highlighting my eyes. The thing is…I really liked it!

{iStyle} Making Vogue in Vogue Again

By: Jenn Ortiz, {iStyle} Editor

Recently, there have been whisperings about a revamp going on at Vogue. After less than stellar ad sales (the bread and butter of any magazine) for the years biggest issue, it’s evident that not all is well at the Conde Nast crown jewel. According to the revamp rumor, Vogue will be focusing on new models, new photographers, and unpredictability. From what I’ve been seeing, everyone seems to agree that it’s a start. Fashionista asked its readers what they would do if they could change the magazine.

So, I asked myself: How would I change Vogue? [Read more…]

Is Torchwood PR for TV-Glamour Gaydom?

First there was Ellen, then some Queer as Folk, Will & Grace, The L Word – and now there is Torchwood?

I’ve been reading a lot of buzz lately about the UK’s hit sci-fi drama, which airs on BBC America. A spin-off of the infamous Doctor-Who, Torchwood features a romantic gay couple as the hero and hero.

I like to think of the show as a slapstick version of The X-files-drugged-up-on-Roswell meeting in the middle of some sort of Star-TrekDoctor-Who hybrid.

It’s rather interesting actually (“notes” starts after the cut and are in RED) —

{Bookworm Reviews} “Groundswell: Winning in a World Transformed by Social Technologies”

Image by Sasha H. Muradali. All Rights Reserved 2009.

By: Kasey Skala, guest blogger

I’m hesitant when it comes to books about social media.

Unless it’s a historic look at past technology, how can you write a book about something that is constantly evolving? I could write a book today, and come next month, it probably would be a little outdated. So, I approached a top “innovator” [Read more…]

{Pinkalicious: Foto Lust} Kattaca’s ‘El Principito’

“Grown-ups never understand anything by themselves, and it is exhausting for children to have to provide explanations over and over again.”
The Little Prince by Antoine de Saint-Exupéry

The Little Prince is one of my favourite books…ever. So you can imagine how much in lust, full of glee and blinded bliss I was in when I came across these AMAZING pictures by Kattaca.

The art direction is flawless, in my opinion. The colours, the models, the set design…everything. I could burst I love these photographs so much.

Hands down [Read more…]

PR WIN! Get Your ABSOLUT Drinkspiration On

Copyright ABSOLUT © 2009

Don’t you love public relations? I love public relations. I love public relations even more when I see really cool new tools and tactics being created by brands to get what they want and increase revenue in a recession.

One of the newest comes from ABSOLUT VODKA who launched the Drinkspiration by ABSOLUT application.

Basically, this nifty tool combines “mobile technology with GPS, Twitter and Facebook.” Dude, that sounds macro-byte delish!

So what is it? It’s an interactive encyclopedia of recipes that aims to help people share their favourite drinks, create new ones and recommend others based on spirits, taste, weather, time of day, vibe of the bar, sound volume, real-time drink trends and who knows what else.

And guess what folks? It’s FREE for iPhone and iPodTouch users.

Oh no? Oh yes, yes, yes!

If Michael Jackson nearly broke the Internet, Princess Di would have killed it

Recently, I had a “we agree to disagree” discussion with a friend over who was bigger – HRH Princess Diana or Michael Jackson?

I don’t suppose you could guess which side I was on. But in case you cannot – I was on the side of HRH Princess Diana.

The reason?

The mere fact, that if Michael Jackson nearly broke the Internet, 9-11 or the death of Princess Diana would have surely killed it.

I guess, the meat of what I was trying to get at was the impact, or lack thereof, of social media. [Read more…]

{Rules of PR no.16} You Know You Have a Communication Problem When…

by: gcman105 via FlickR

You know you have a communications problem when…

  • you start a message on Twitter
  • respond to the response on Facebook
  • respond to the Facebook response via text message
  • reply to text message via e-mail
  • e-mail back via another e-mail account
  • and end said conversation with a phone a call.
  • …then you follow-up with cheek and giggles on Twitter.

Really? Oh, indeed.

Seriously? Serious.

We live in an age of mass everything. There are so many outlets to communicate upon that sometimes, [Read more…]
