You, like me, probably watched last night in a mix of tears, horror and I quote, myself, “WHAT?!” at the Season 5 finale of Grey’s Anatomy.
Bringing back traumatic, teary memories of Season 2: the prom dress, the elevator, Denny and wait! Seriously. Seriously? Seriously! George in a military uniform.
We don’t know who lived and we don’t know who died, if anyone at all. In true Shondaland fashion, we will not know, until September when Season 6 starts.
But there is hope. A new hope. Or so we are lead to believe.
Today MSNBC sounded off with Shonda about our beloved soap. I don’t know about you, but I’m not quite sure how I feel about it all…yet.
SHONDA RHIMES: I don’t think there are any coincidences. I think Katherine’s stated publicly that she’s happy to stay. I think that there have been lots of rumors about TR, but TR’s never said anything. Take from it what you will.
Well, at least Rhimes is talking to someone, even though she said on her Twitter and Grey’s blog that she’s staying mum on the topic until after the fall season starts.
According to BuddyTV and the ”aftergasm” polls, most people think Izzie will survive over George. But are followed by speculation that neither will survive. Yet, a few are holding out (like me) that both will survive.
Since when did television take over our lives and make us zombies to the plasma screen world of make believe?
Need I remind myself, and you, that Izzie and George are characters on a television show and whether they live or die, has nothing to do with us or our immediate families.
But no, of course, we can’t help it. Some of us have been dedicated watchers since that first night at the bar back in 2005 and our hearts broke into a million pieces when we watched Izzie on the cold-tiled, bathroom floor in her prom dress.
So, yes, we’re happy, Izzie and Alex got married and kind of shocked that it wasn’t Mer and Derek (a blue Post-It note? Seriously.)
The Season 5 finale was just too close for comfort.
But should we expect any less? 4 out of the 5 past finales ended on a similar note. Though, 5 following closely behind 2, certainly takes the cake.
Well, a publicity stunt or not, capitalizing on rumors or not, one thing remains: according to The Shondaland Express, there is hope…hopefully:
RHIMES: Yes. And I don’t know that you should be saying “which one of them lives and which one of them dies.” I know what happens to the characters.
